Hi B-Bods,

I am the proud owner of the only 4-speed Charger 500 in the UK
I have had her for many years, from back when they were fairly obscure.
I know of an auto C500 here in England as well.
They are both Green cars so deffo not HIGH IMPACT lol...
I believe there was (or still is) a hemi 4-speed car here too?

Resto work was started in Sunny California by a good friend of mine.
He went through a rough patch and closed his Mopar workshop down.
I think It was called Speedway in San Fernando Valley.

Any-ways his loss was my gain and I hope to carry on with the project.
Original car from Florida and maybe a car owned by Don Garlits?
Car was painted RED/BLACK then light metallic blue then re-primered.

I am still tempted to copy the original paint scheme of the 'CROWER' car.
My C500 is in primer and waiting for the time I can afford the topcoat!

Best wishes from The LIMEY, Polyjon Don Garlits 69 C500.jpg

Going to be a beautiful car and great looking work! Keep posting pics as you work through her.

Great project! Its going to be one sweet car when its done!

I wouldn't think there should be a problem putting it in the winged section; it does have the same original goal and is considered an 'aero car' from the old Nascar wars. Of the five aero warriors - Daytona, Superbird, '69 Charger 500, Ford Talledega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II, only two actually had the big wings but they were all built to the same purpose. And it did have the plugged backlite.

Hi B-Bods,
The late sixties Nascars were the end of an ERA in uni-body cars!
The 200mph cars of the early seventies were heavily modified and far removed from street models.
The Charger-500 almost won at Talladega, and if that had happened the Daytona may never have been built?
Obviously The 'KING' was brought back to Plymouth with the mighty Superbird!
The rest is history, the 426 Hemi banned and the small-block Daytona not quite fast enough.
Those were the GLORY days of MOPARS!!!:VB toast:

Sure, post as many pics as you like, sir!!
Looks great! =)

In my opinion, the 1969 Charger 500 is the best of all the charger styles.

Only one race w/ a small block Daytona...specially prepared by Kieth Black for Mario Rossi, a destroked 340 to 305, when franz instituted the crappola ruling....1970 Daytona. Richard Brooks was LEADING the race when he got sideways coming off a high bank and got t boned by Pete Hamilton, trashing the side of the SB car....Brooks took most of the strait and infield recovering, lost a lot of places....BUT got back init & with a damaged, ci disadvantaged car managed to finish 7th. Had He not gotten into accident......Odds are extremely GOOD He would have won.
The SB's could have done it had they been exploited more.......helluva lot easier on front brakes & tyres. Still, Brooks & the mouse motored car put on a helluva show......franz was having babies for a couple of hours.
Nice 500! My favorite of Chargers.....roofline and short deck far too pretty to distract with tower wing.

Nice car!
I have only seen one in my life
1982, Dayton Ohio
Wright-Patterson AFB long term car storage lot
Dark green
Allegedly a Captain in the Air Force owned it.
