How low will gas prices go?

When oil was 30 a barrel in the 70's...gas was 75 cents a gallon...it will go as low as the politicians and oil companies feel it should go

Once Iran saturates the market with even more oil, the barrel will plunge even more. No wonder governments are looking at oil for more tax revenue.

Here in Canada, gas prices remain higher because the refineries have jacked up their prices (almost 50%) to refine oil to gas to compensate for the low cost of oil. Most, if not all refineries here are owned by the big gas companies.

Keep remembering when premium gas went to 55 cents a gallon...got pissed. Traded my 69 RR in, for a Volkswagon!

Well maybe down in the South Land and the Inland Empire it is $3.00 but here in Vacaville/Northern CA we just dropped to $1.99!!!

We're still being robbed in CA. Gas is still $3.00 a gallon out here.

Yep just under that here in the foothills
$2.89 per/gal 87 oct. & $2.95 per/gal 91 oct. last fill up too

what surprised me is Diesel is down to $2.69 in some places here

Taxes here will keep it high,
{IIRC something like $0.66+ local Taxes per/gal. added, it's something like $0.80-$0.90 cents per/gal. added here}
we will never be back at the levels of the 70's or 80's ever again,
"might" get down to low $2.20+ for 87 oct. in some places "maybe",
for cheapo fuel places, but not here any time soon...
There's no profit in it for the businesses/station any lower...

I talked to a couple people I know & my Bros.
that were making only like $0.15-$0.25 max per/gal,
my brother Tim is making $0.25 cents per/gal for full serve in East Bay Area
he doesn't have self serve, more of a old style repair garage, than a gas station,
gas is more for the customers convenience, he says it's hardly worth it any more too...

We are far above the US average price, mainly because of we are overly/Liberally taxed

my oil stocks/dividends too, are taking a hit,
but it's allot cheaper to fill up these days...

It's $1.14 at OnCue in Midwest City (near Tinker AFB). Still $1.19 near me at 7 Eleven.

Well, I for one can't wait for oil prices to go back up. I am out of a job at the end of the month so hard times ahead for some of us. Mopar resto on hold at the moment.

I was tempted last week and I filled up at the 1.97 price for the 87 octane. Usually, I can make it 2 days on one tankful with about 1/8th tank left. I have 254,000 miles on the truck and I usually run the 89 octane. The truck was ready to run dry 20 miles from the house on the way home from the second day. The lower octane gave worse fuel economy probably due to the computer pulling out ignition timing to avoid spark knock.
I'm going back to 89 tomorrow.

RTK line...Is that name from a movie or Tv show? I seem to recall the name from Atlas Shrugged or something...

hahaha! Hippie is funny! Trading the cars sucked!

Hippy my ***! Ha. Yeah, the trade did suck. Probably why I still remember it...man, if I had only known. (Damn glad the RR wasn't sporting a Hemi!)

:hello2: We have a few @ $1.99 Chevron & Shell
& a cheapo no name place @ $1.95 all for 87 oct. :headbang:

down almost a $0.85-$1 per/gal in the last 2 weeks,
were slow to keep pace with pricing up here in the sticks...LOL

We are at 2.39 here in Anchorage, half of that is state tax. The producers up here( ConocoPhillips, BP, Hilcorp) are convinced we may see another year to 1 1/2 years of this depressed market and adjusting their projected work load and personnel accordingly. That could change any minute if Putan gets a wild hair, his country is in dire straights and he could go postal on somebody. There is sooo much oil behind pipe and in storage that the minute any upturn is noted, the taps will start to open to take advantage. That glut will keep us at bay with supply/demand control until reserves start to dwindle because of the depressed drilling environment we have seen for the past year almost. Would love to see it turn soon as many of my friends are "seeking other options" now. Good luck Chargerjase, and hope you get your head above water soon. The oilfield is a scary place right now, especially for us older farts that are too old to start new.

Last Friday, the gas at one location was just $1.09 for corn squeezins, and $1.25 for 100% gas. The next morning, BOTH shot up thirty cents, and have hovered around $1.29 and $1.50 since
