Hello guys, I'm new here and new to the molar world as well.
The car I'm looking at buying is the 68 coronet rt convertible triple black and it's had a full frame off resto and is laser straight. Only thing not original is the 440 (it's from a 69 with a 6pack) car runs and looks amazing, my problem is that I have no idea what is a good price to pay for this car. I have looked at eBay, Hemings, and any other online source to get a rough idea but prices do not seem to be consistent. Any advice and or info would be so appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
Chris

Hi Chris and welcome to the site. It would helpful if you could post some pictures of this car, and tell us what the asking price is? Its virtually impossible without those things.

Welcome plus 1 to the above post

Post some good pics of the underside , engine bay and interior. The more pics the better. You will get a good idea from people on this site what a fair price might be. Also build sheet, fender tag and body numbers match? Options are good, auto or 4 speed. Power steering, power brakes, AC, these all will make a price difference. Any body panels been changed, trunk floor, floor pans, quarter panels.. Oh ya. Welcome

Welcome. Pictures please. In the Mopar world the resto is referred to as rotisserie.

Hey guys, thank you for replying and yes I was a bit vague let me try to touch on all this better.
So the car came out of Arizona was in 90% overall rust free car it had a full frame off rotisserie restoration. New rear quarters were welded on due to multiple things done… Flooring trunk panels are original it is an automatic with a 440 from a 1969 it has all the correct air filter cowel hood.... Power brakes front desk power steering. I am being told it is a true r/t but I have yet to confirm that with the Vin number. No AC and I don't believe there is a build sheet available. Asking price is 40k. Basically I think I need to look at this car as a nine documented restoration, I will attach pictures the car is stunning. Thanks again

Well my Vin number shows WS27L8G…
telling me coronet special convertible 383 1968 St. Louis
is there anything that specifies RT? for example in the Chevelle world of Vin number 138 is a SS
also the hood on the car I am looking at I believe is not a 68 hood is this correct? I think the scoops are not era specific or am I wrong.

RT coronets came all with 440 motors. Production on 68 RT verts 431.

Yeah, ALL R/Ts were 440s or 426 HEMIS

That is why I said the price of an original 68 R/T convertible is well north of $40K

It's a clone but a nice one.

New price: $30K

So am I reading the Vin wrong?

No, it's a Coronet Convertible CLONED as a 68 R/T convertible

also looks like it's a dealer...so chances are there's no docs or history...AND no chance for some sales tax savings...be careful who knows what's under shiny paint!

according to this site above it shows the vin is a true rt 440
this is confusing. Lol.
The seller claims it is a true rt but not numbers matching with a nice restoration job I agree with the 30 K but I feel if it's a true RT should be worth more

No dealer. Body work and resto r documented (with pics whatever that means)

If it is a WS27 vin then it is a Coronet R/T Convertible

So, it is a TRUE R/T

Get it!

True that!

FWIW A 1968 Coronet R/T would have come with the "Power Bulge" hood, not twin scoops. And it wouldn't be a frame off restoration because these cars didn't come with a frame. They are unibody cars. Would be nice to see pics of engine bay. Seems strange that new quarters were needed if it was an Arizona car. I'd check it over very closely.
With that said, it's a good looking car!

I like it. See it in person with an expert. It would be difficult to make a car look that good for 40k. On here, a hood, grill, tail panel, bumpers and glass aproach that.

I know the seller, not well but we met during a realestate transaction. I spoke to the body shop that did the work. My bad on saying frame off, like I said I'm new to the mopar world. He even admited now that replacing the rears was a mistake but at the time felt it was the right option. I looked at the car but only in a garage. If we start talking $ I'll get it on my lift. So it's basically a 68 rt but cloned to look like a 69 with a 69 440 6pack
ill get some engine pics in the next day or so. Interior is very clean. Top is new. Paint is perfect. The guy is into this car for about 60k
bought it for 25 had it shipped and then had the car striped down and completely gone thru, body, interior and drive train. Id feel better buying this car for 27-30k. What do u guys think
