So about a year back, I picked up a truck off my buddy. He had torn apart the exhaust system to put headers (which I sold him) and dual exhaust on. After I got the truck, I just put single exhaust on and so now I have a bunch of extra 2.5in pipe and 2 brand new Flowmaster 50's.

Now that I'm putting my new motor in my car, I'm replacing my exhaust system. The cheap guy in me says to use the Flowmaster 50's, but I don't want to use them if they're going to make my car sound like a turd. So, in you guys opinion do the 50 series give out a good sound for a muscle car or should I ditch them for some others?

You have them! As long as you don't weld them in, try them and see. If you don't like it, then drop some cash for others! Just a thought!

That's a really interesting read, thanks for posting it!

Sounds like a good idea, at least I'll only be out a little time that way. I hate to sell them for next to nothing since they are brand spankin' new.

I liked Flowmaster mufflers for quite awhile. After a few long distance trips, I decided to make a change to Dynomax Welded Ultra Flo mufflers. Much quieter at cruise but they still bark under throttle. Much better for a street driven car.

I like the Dynomax mufflers also, never really liked the Flow master sound, jmo. Car still runs mid 12s thru mufflers with mild 440 and 3.55 gear. And can still hear the radio at 70 mph.

I agree, go with the Dynomax if this is a daily driver, or utility vehicle. The drivability is just better. I think that thunderous sound of the Flowmasters gets really old fast.

Hell I love good old cherry bombs on my cars But I've used flowmasters before there nice But you better upgrade your stereo system or you won't hear it ,or your wife (so now that I'm thinking about it Mark a check in useful Ness of a flow master ) but deff upgrade the stereo !

I'd stick them on and give them a try if you don't like them clean them up and sell them if you like them great you saved some cash

I agree with above - clamp them on and try them. I clamped my summit turbos on a couple of years ago with some stainless band-type exhaust clamps and they're still on and doing great.

Thanks for all the responses guys, I think i'm just going to clamp on these Flowmaster 50's for now and I'll see how I like them. After watching some more videos on youtube, I'm starting to lean toward the Dynomax's. They sound really good and they don't have a drone! Oh and I don't have to worry about my stereo, I just got the factory AM radio with the front in-dash speaker only!:sad5: Talk about useless!

I say give them a shot. Just place them on the pipes for a sound test. Drive around the block and down the road to see what they sound like inside and have a friend drive it so you can here the outside.

As for now, you have nothing to loose in the testing.
I went through several "Tests" and settled on the Walker Sound FX mufflers for my current build. I have tried the summit, dyno Max vt and the super turbo by Thrush.

I think 50's are supposed to be pretty low drone, and a lot of guys like them over a dynomax, etc, yeah so definitely give them a shot.
