just noticed after driving the car on a warm day that fuel is coming out of the gas tank vents when the tank is near full
one just behind the differential & the other one that loops thru the trunk & drains out thru the right frame rail & eventually next to and on the right exhaust resonator

Anybody else had this issue & suggestions

Any problems just looping the vents together so there is no vent besides the vented gas cap

My 58 Chrysler has no vents besides the gas cap & seems to work fine although on hot days it builds up pressure & when when removing the the gas cap there is a gush air that comes out

Thanks Larry

Lots here with this issue. Make sure that the loop is HIGH enough in the trunk first.

Do anybody know why there are 2 vents?

below is a picture of the loop in the trunk

The problem is that there are not enough bends in it. It should look more like this....

Thats funny

Just realized why 2 vents, on the inside the vents should end on the top front & back of the tank so one is always out of the fuel

If the pressure in the tank is pushing liquid out of the tank then the pick part of the vent must be in liquid. The vents may have a pickup level lower than intended or the car is on un level ground when this happens.
Try a vented cap to help identify the leak.

I've had 3 Road Runners & they all have the same issue when there is a full tank. Release the pressure on the cap & the vent line leakage stops. What's the real solution?

errrrrrrrr........................ dont tighten the cap?

The only issue is that is gas will slosh out of the fill tube under acceleration.

just attempting to make a funnie.
i have the same issue with my coronet

I'm tempted to drill a 1/8" hole in the cap to relieve the pressure. Anyone done that before?

Don't know the answer but I can say my 70 GTX with non vented cap has never spit up fuel from anywhere, and I fill to the brim every time. My good buddy with a 70 Roadrunner pukes from the vent in the frame rail if he fills over 3/4 tank.
My thought would be a pluged vent, curious to see if anyone has a fix for this..
A hole in the cap should work, but so should the vents.
