for a 383. and gas tanks as well. thanks

That's a question everyone would like to know. LOL
I got a sending unit from Van's last year. Ohmed out good at full and empty, everywhere in between is where it goes bad. With the tank full and drive 20 miles it reads 1/2 tank, another 20 miles its down to 1/4.
Still have to use the odometer to keep track of fuel.

I got a sending unit from Dixie a couple months ago. In came in a AMD box, it was unusable. When installed it was at an angle (not straight up and down). This could also be a problem with the tank, but I had two others in the tank and they were straight. Someday I'll try it in an original tank. The problem is it's near impossible to find out who makes them. I've bought from several places and they all look the same and nobody wants to tell you who made them. I buy from Dixie, they buy from AMD, they buy from lowest bidder? I used a Spectre tank and Spectre sending unit, I'm still in the process of trying to make it work. Good luck.

there aren't any sending units that you won't have to fiddle with that i know of. they're fairly easy to adjust.

This is who I got the one from for our 69 GTX vert. http://nationalmoparts.com/ He supposedly adjusts them before they get sent out. Ours is still off however, I think it drops quickly due to the angle of the fill tube for the gas tank with not being able to get a true "full" tank of gas. I will say that it is a lot better than others I have had before. I can't wait to get an original restored and put back into our car to get the repro stuff off of it.

I think this is right. If you want a reasonably accurate fuel sender and gage reading you pretty much have to plan on installing it twice. The first time to see if it reads optimistically or pessimistically. And the second time to bend the arm to adjust the drop so it reads more accurately based on the observations from the first time.

Unobtainium. Note the miles and don't go more than 200 for me.

Just had my fuel tank and sender replaced. Mechanic said he put in five gallons. Gage read empty when I left. After a 15.4 gallon fill up, the gage read 3/8 full (19 Gallon tank). I have a feeling the instrument is okay based on the mileage (1967 Belvedere II Coupe with 17K original miles). Time for an arm bend???

am-autoparts.com has what you need for $39.50 and free shipping. Their tank with strap set is $114.

I have an brand new 3/8 unit for a '67 belvedere anyone can have for the cost of shipping. Found out too late I needed a 5/16. The AM people said keep it and gave me a prompt-full refund. NICE FOLKS.
