You could always call the promoter and ask but if it's legal in their state to carry, I don't think they can legally stop you. In Texas it's now legal to open carry and any business that doesn't want it has to post a legal sign saying so. They can't just post a cardboard sign saying it. There are certain places where it's illegal to conceal carry like post office, court houses and the like but everywhere else it's legal. There are rules you have to follow for carrying on college campuses and right now they are fighting that one to make it illegal period for any type of carry. You can also check with that state. You do not want to carry if the show has legal right to prohibit it...you can probably figure out the why of that..
The sabres and Bills(buffalo) used wands to detect handguns 2 years ago...they never went below the knees so ankle carry got in....I'm one of them..lol...AND...my 2 cents...in NY we have been investigated, pictured, fingerprinted, interviewed to get a handgun permit. School zones are a "no gun zone" Being a vet of over 26 years...a permitted carry...civilian and commercial security experience...in reference to School no gun zones...the only legal right the government has given me when picking my children up; is to watch them get slaughtered by someone I could potentially stop. Something for the " gun grabbers" to remember...no matter what the skill level a gun holder has...in a situation they at least have a chance to protect themselves. Without the handgun; they have none.
There has never been any kind of check at the door for the Indy show in the last 10 years I've been going there. If there is this year, it will be a first.
I have never seen any signs or any type of metal detection equipment. I've been going to the Fairgrounds forever. It's less than 5 miles from the house.
