I have the 440 that came in my GTX and would like to sell it to get some indy heads for my 500 stroker. I know it numbers matching but?

whats a good price for a 69 in pieces??

also have a new set of rear leafs and a new in box 1.0 mopar performance torchein bars

I'd start advertising it as a whole numbers matching engine, with the information, date etc. As someone restoring a 69' just might be more motivated to pay your asking price. As for value, someone else might be better able to tell you that information. Good luck.

its worth more with the car
then selling it off separate

In 2014 I sold a standard bore 1968 440 short block for $500.

I've got a '69 440, completely rebuilt, zero-mile engine, complete except for carb, brackets and pulleys, for sale for $2K. Have yet to advertise it, but it's fresh and ready to run. I'm sticking with that money on mine.

local guy offered me 1500 for it and it is in pieces. so sounds like I should let it go.

Now days, I would never sell the original engine. Especially your car.
I'm installing a '67 440 in my '62 to have some fun with. The original 361 is being packed up and stored.

I would never sell the numbers matching engine. it CAN'T be replaced. and blocks are not that expensive. just my opinion.

I agree with storing....would add more value to the vehicle when sold. Plus if the stroker blows....you have a solid replacement..other than that...block..300...crank...150....heads...300...going prices

Bad idea. Never sell a numbers piece from your car. You can find all the blocks you will ever need, but not THAT block.

Agree with above- separating a matching number engine from it's car is VERY hard to undo.

Some people spend their lives searching for the original motor, you already have it.

I would not sell the numbers matching motor from your car. Down the road that would prove to be a bad idea.

Im sorry to jump on too but selling this original to the car motor just for a set of heads is a very bad idea. People are right, once you sell it, it's gone, chances are you'll never get it back. Be patient, save your money and buy the heads you want but save this motor with your car.

If its #'s matching do not sell it. I did that once with a small block and regretted it.
