Just purchased '67 Coronet R/T with 440 and automatic (my first 440). Car is in excellent shape. But since I have no documentation, and I know the block is not original, I want to determine as much as I can about the drivetrain, overall health. Block #4006630-440

Any suggestions? Here is my plan at this point.....

Check plugs evaluate colorCompression test?
Check valve train
Heads? Check under valve covers for marks to determine what they are??
Trans serial number tell me anything?
Shiftshard. After market torque converter?
Has electronic ignition

you can check plugs...whatever....and everything looks good and then the next day the motor pukes...or it can run for almost ever with oil changes/maintenance and not drag racing it every day...I did find out over 45 years ago that mopars DO like to run hard so whoop on it every now and then

Looks like it was professionally done or the last owner really knew what they were doing. Looks real nice under the hood with everything in its place. I would just keep up on the preventive maintenance and have fun with it.

Take it out for a good stomp, to see if everything works as it should. listen for abnormal noise, driveline vibrations, ect. See how it behaves in stop and go traffic once everthing gets hot under the hood, does it burn oil ect. Keep an eye on your gauges.

If it shifts hard it most likely has a shift kit installed, that good.

Nice car!
