hi all,

i wanted to install a mopar performance fan shroud part 2785434 on my oem 26" radiator. is this a one-piece unit or does it have an upper and lower half?

i'll check with summit on that part. does anyone know of a split unit? upper half / lower half style?

any tips on installing a one-piece fan shroud? can it be maneuvered around fan assembly without taking off fan?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dcc-2785434

from the pics on summitracing it appers to be a one-piece unit. goin through the service manual i see references to removing upper half for some procedures and referrnces to removing lower half for other procedures.

the car is a 66 coronet 440cu with a 7blade mechanical fan (non-thermal i think).

thanks,

watermelon

I'm pretty sure that it's a one piece shroud. I haven't installed a one piece shroud on a Mopar personally (the shroud on my 64 was two piece and went on very easily), You might be able to slip it on, but I think you might have to remove the fan and kind of hang the shroud on the water pump while you bolt the fan back on then move the shroud forward into position and bolt it up. Hopefully somebody else has done one of these and will chime in.

That shroud is the 70-74 style, which mounts with 4 screws. The 66-69 style uses 5 nuts to mount the shroud on a 26 inch radiator in a b body. Make sure of what year radiator you have first to verify shroud mounting. All the 26 are 1 piece for 66-74 and the 22 are a 1 piece as well in 70 and later. The early 22 inch shrouds are a 2 piece metal design. You most likely will need to take the fan off to install the shroud.

Thanks for the replies all.

The shroud is a one-piecer. Also, it is has four bolts and my 26" radiator has the 4-bolt mounting points. Gonna order it and try and toss it in.

I don't have any over-heating issues but want to toss this in anyhow. Just looking for projects to do.
