Hey guys I know it's not a b body or even a mopar. But figured maybe since some of you got a little age on your selves you might recognize this car . I was told it was built in the 50's for a movie, and possibly a George Burris custom ,but all of this is un verified so I figured I'd start with the movie star part first ! The car itself is a 1942 Buick conv custom I was told the picture where it's all together and white is basically how it was in the movie just fresh . The picture is about 20 years old and has been in doors since that picture was taken up until today when it was unearthed!
I'm looking for information ,who built it ,what movie was it in and does anyone know anything else about it or have pictures Imodium it ?
The owner passed away and his wife was selling off the cars no one was wanting to mess with this as it was way in the back on 4 flat tires so I had it dug out (thanks my workers) they drug it out 4 hours later the lady couldn't stand to look at it and try to sell it so I told her I would buy it from her. I really don't need another car sitting around as I still can't work on anything yet (hopefully I get the next back surgery soon) I'm almost ready just getting legal stuff out of the way of yeah and the 300-400k I need to find to pay for my back,anyways If there's any info please reply or p.m me

I'm only 56, I'm not realy a super old fart :poke:
but I don't recognize the car at all, I'm pretty up on movie cars too...
BUT;
1st thing that came to mind...
I was kind of thinking of one of the McQueen movies where he drove
an old white Buick {? year make ?} convertible car,
he was/played the part he was a really bad driver {that's a real stretch too},
he got a late 70's Trans Am blown in 1/2, he was a bounty hunter etc.
{I really can't remember the movie name, off hand, brain fart}
but seems that car you showed there, was gone deteriorated, long
before or shortly after McQueen even made that movie...

don't take this the wrong way BUT;
Allot of George Burris cars were hack jobs IMO {no offense},
mostly 50 ft-ers, for filming, not really good fit & finish at all,
not very well built or more merely movie props, more than a quality show cars anyway...
Not all thou...
I've seen allot in person too...

You can Google search George Burris if you want & see most all his creations,
IIRC his son {can't remember his name} has done an archiving deal of all his photos & builds etc.

good luck

That is a very nice car and will be interesting as to what you make out of it. good luck on the surgery. I've had 2 spinal surgerys in the last 4 years and I hope you fare better than I.

Don't know anything about the car -sorry for chiming in. Just want to echo for a successful back surgery. Fresh subject for me as well because my wife is going to have back surgery in about 3 weeks. We're nervous about it. Hope you find the car and your surgery goes well - very well.

Thanks guys ,the surgery is scaring the hell out of me I'm not going to lie ! I really don't know if I want to go threw with it but I hurt so much every day and I'm taking tons of pills just to function. My chances for a positive outcome in surgery are ok but I'm still scared as the first surgery didn't help much .but if I want my life back I guess I need to do it . As for the car ,the reason why barris came up because it's a hell of a hack job with tons of bondo to fix the edges. But some of the features are like most of his other builds . To be clear I didn't buy this because of this stuff, the owner passed and his wife couldn't sell it ,I needed the rebuilt eng and trans so basically I bought that and got stuck with the rest but after it was loaded she started telling us about the movie so I figured I'd better look into it before it dump the remains on eBay or something

So basically I bought the eng and trans possibly the frame, and got the rest ,I did pay a premium for the stuff and would like to recuperate some of my money I have a frame and eng,trans I will put with it to make it kinda complete but I always do my homework first before I sell something don't want to give a movie star way for nothing

I agree no grease lighting it's older then that over the top mods and no flames or side pipes

Well if we can't figure the car out I'll be selling a rolling body if any of you guys play with hot rods too!
It's cool as hell but I like my old cars org and my chargers over the top not the other way around that and I really don't have any room for it

Is that the car from Happy Days where It only had so many "good starts" left in it...and i believe ends up at the bottom of a lake or something?lol i just remember the fonze stealing the hood emblem.

Budnicks , you're referring to the film "The Hunter". Steve had a 51 Chevy Ragtop. Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars game owns it now.

Ask Jay Leno, I would be he would know or someone that knows!

I just re read the post, you said it was a 42 but what we need is the movie?
Oh boy!
