Reverse light question on 69 RR...solved

I have been doing electrical and have 90% working. My back up lights don't come on though. The reverse light on the dash lights up. I thought these would be on the same switch, which I haven't found yet. I have followed the violet wire up to the driver kick panel. From the plug there it turns to white with black stripe. The diagrams I have found show only violet, not white. I don't think that really matters, early car maybe 68 had white with black. But my question would be is why would the dash light work and not the back up lights? Forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Do you have the bulbs in, do they ops check good, good ground, etc., etc.? Good Luck

Actually I tested the bulbs and sockets prior to installation. But I found the issue. Strangely enough one of the spades had pushed out of this plug. Must have been like that for a long time. It is in line from the trans to the bulkhead connector. When I pulled it apart I saw one spade was way down inside. Pushed it in and wala!

I had bulkhead issues causing all kinds of havoc. I collected all pieces to replace it. In the meantime, I carefully removed all banks from the connector and sprayed a huge amount of electrical contact cleaner on everything I could reach. It ran black. When it ran clean I stopped. Reassembled and no more problems. Careful not to break the ears off, use fender cover, don't hurry.

Well there ya go!

No, should have. Everything so brittle I'm afraid to now. When the new stuff goes it it will be used.
