I would like to change out from points to an electronic set up, does anyone has any suggestions? I have seen some excel stuff that claim to be easy to do but you know the old says, if it seems easy......

MSD Ready to Run. No need for the additional ignition box. Self contained unit.

Used Blue Streak tuneup parts for years.....can't get that brand anymore? My tuneups would easily last a year with every day driving.

I am running a Summit Racing conversion on my car. Almost identicle to the M.P. version and not too expensive.

I like to use the Pertronix Ignition system, since they go into a stock distributor and preserves that factory look.

Looking stock is important to me. I bought a rebuilt one for my 67' on line. I'll drive it with points for the foreseeable future. Maybe one day I'll put a Pentronics in. If your putting points in, while the distributor is in the car, your doing it wrong. Pull it, chuck it into a vice, and set the points up that way. Don't forget to lube the rubbing block, on the points.

Why do you hate points? I don't hate points!

out of curiosity, has anyone ever had any decrease in performance after installing a Pertronix unit? I had the 327 in my old chevy running excellent when I points in it 15 yrs ago. As long as you change them once a year, the car ran great. Thinking I would get a performance advantage at the time, a few years before I sold it I swapped out the points in favor of Pertronix. Car ran ok, but not snappy and crisp like with the points. Had a shop install it at the time because I wasn't familiar with electronic ignition. I brought it back and had him check the reluctor gap. He said all was ok and installed as required. Car never ran as well with that. If I still had it, I would remove the pertronix and try an HEI swap.
