Stock Grille

You guys were talking about the stock grille. I didn't know what to do with my 68 RR grill, so for the first step I sent it to a plating shop to get cleaned, repaired and plated. He talked me into just cleaning and polishing it and then see what it looked like.
Now after 14 weeks, 66 man-hours and $1300 for the grill and headlight buckets, and no paint, it looks so good I don't want to do anything to it. I will get a pic tomorrow as I will have to dig it out of blankets in the bedroom. I am not even considering painting the shaded areas with the Argent paint. The guy said he advised against plating it as the thin aluminum tends to let the chrome flake off in the to near future.

Nice work on the chassis, especially the sfc. Hard to get a full bead with all the contours.

Everything is kind of stalled for now. There's a few things to putter away at but kind of waiting for the Magnum Force K Frame to get here so we can see where the engine sits and mate everything back up as well as check clearances for the Procharger and pulleys.

The most important finding this week was the frame kink. We knew this car had some front end damage from wrinkles in the Pass side inner and the rad support and we suspected the worst when we couldn't get a decent alignment on it. Well we're making it right! Found the kink and getting the frame made true, and actually replaced the inner fender since the wrinkles were pretty bad.

Some parts are in to pick up so I'll have some pics of new goodies to post Monday
 
That's great news Goon, glad to hear you'll be getting it all put back where it belongs and driving straight again.

Been on the phone most of the afternoon so far chasing down parts.

After talking to a few different people and getting pretty much the same specs Adam at Comp spec'd my cam for me:

It will be a custom grind on a 3 bolt core using our XFI hydraulic roller lobes.

23-000-9. 13083B/3039B. 238/248 [email protected], .545/.543 lift (1.5 rocker ratio), 115LSA +4 degrees of advance.


Ordered a new carpet since my shifter hole moved, the milodon road race oil pan and pick up and a trunk battery box from Eddie's. Also got my rear discs ordered and a new MC. went with the 12.19 Wilwood rears
 
Just grabbed the stuff from Dakota Digital as well as my Speedhut guages and new wheels.

Added a little custom touch to the guages and I am REALLY happy with the wheel choice

I was looking at getting a Innovative LM-2 to install on mine to help with tuning AFR. Nice piece and very reasonably priced.

What is your EGT target. When racing my bike, it was 1100, alky.

Not sure of the EGT target yet. I think we'll get some feedback from C&S and stick with their recommendations.


Thanks to everyone for the kind words. It's been rough eating the expenses that are rolling in right now but I realized fairly quick once the car was blown apart that this has turned from a few changes to the final stretch of really building my Dream Car. A lot of these upgrades are things that I had wished for future but with a stroke of luck of a lot of Overtime right now and selling parts I feel that what I can pull off now will be the difference in offsetting the car to a real value when completed. (not that it's getting sold but I want my money to be "Safe" in it)

As far as the Canadian dollar goes since I'm putting all my money into the American economy I think I'm hurting not helping! lol With the exception of the absolute hose jobs of HST when I'm bringing parts back over.

To this day I still can not understand why there isn't a Summit or Jegs Canada... we have the population, economy and hobbyists to support it with ease.

Dev I think I'll let you make the Dog Box for us I've seen your work! Can it have a spiral staircase and a hobbit doorway?!?! :)


Huge recommendation to Speedhut guages. Not only can you customize the guages to your liking and add logos or lettering like I did with the inset AngryBird but you can also follow the process along online with updates from art department to production. At a better price point than autometer as well.

makes me sick, it's like we're a 3rd world country up here! I guess with a population the size of California, we're just small potatoes.
