This was the first step for my power window conversion and after market stereo system projects for my 1970 Roadrunner convertible. Stock electrical system was no way going to be up to powering everything so the only choice I had was top add a Painless #70107 circuit aux. fuse panel. It can be found on in the Painless on-line catalog I believe on page 92.
Biggest issue was where to install it. Choices are in the engine compartment (you can get one that has a water proof cover) but I thought it would of looked tacky so decided to mount it up high on the driver's kick panel far enough up so it will not interfere with the emergency brake pedal.
Fuse panel was easy to wire up. One main power wire runs to the battery (also has a relay in the circuit) and a wire to a ignition hot circuit on the stock fuse panel (to turn on the ignition hot circuits on the new panel). Panel has 3 constant hot and 4 ignition hot circuits along with a 40 amp relay.
Note: Will put up posts (for any of you interested) on the power window conversion and stereo system projects in the Interior section.
What comes in the package.
With the spacers I had to use.
Showing where I mounted the relay left of the radiator near the battery (the unit above it is the main fuse for the stereo system main power cable that goes to the trunk...different posting).
Showing where it is mounted.
