I remember someone saying to me that if you cut a piece off of the 69 Roadrunner headlight bezels they will then fit on a 69 GTX. Does anyone know the process to do this or which area to cut? I have access to a pair of freshly restored and reanodized 69 Roadrunner headlight bezels but want to make sure I do it right the first time.

Thanks,

Brian

The 68's are different from 69's, but I've never heard of what your talking about.

Yes, this pertains to the 69's only as I think the roadrunners have a flat area that goes inwards towards the grill and the GTX headlight bezels are shorter in that area.

I will look tomorrow. What area do you need a measurement on?

I have our original ones from our GTX. Its the area where the edge of the headlight bezel meets the grille. I've heard that Roadrunner ones have a flat edge that goes inward to the grille. I was thinking if I could trim off that section I could have a pristine set of newly annodized headlight bezels if I can make them fit our GTX.

I guess what I need is a visual of a side by side comparison. I don't have these headlight trim pieces yet so I have nothing to compare it to our original ones on Dad's GTX.

I'm surprised there's any difference between a 69 RR and GTX. I bought a set of sweet 68 headlight bezels off a member from a RR to my GTX. They fit perfectly.

If you look quick at them they do look the same. However there is that small area which will cause it to not fit.

Ok, so here is the side by side comparison. This flange area is on a roadrunner piece but not on a GTX headlight bezel.

That may explain why I could not get the 69 Bezels that I have , to not fit my current 68 Roadrunner grille. Like what I did in 1968. I must have the wrong 69 bezels...............MO
