Pulling the 318, and replacing it with a 440. Am I going to have to change the torsion bars, due to the extra weight ?
 
Depends,aluminum heads ,intake and mini starter along with an aluminun radiator could keep you close to the same. May need a couple turns on the adjuster bolts.
 
Thanks Daredevil, I anticipated turn up the adjusters. I tried looking up new bars, but there wasn't many choices out there.
 
I see the factory 440/Hemi bars of .92 inch available at most parts suppliers. Pretty sure PST has them.
 
Even when I'm wanting to handle well in the corners (I'm no super burner) well, I'll go with the smaller spring and use a larger sway bar. This way, the car rides nice on the straight and narrow while still being able to turn well.

You can get 0.96 or 1.03's from PST for around $240, ask for the FBBO discount. I would recommend bigger bars if you plan on going around corners.
 
I am running the small block bars under my 383, Did like posted above just set them up a little tighter.
Added a sway bar also, The 67 drives fine and does not bottom out on the over travel bumpers when hitting a bump ect.
 
I've got the original 318 bars under my 440. Here's a dumb question, are they easy to crank up a bit? On our wonderful michigan roads, i tend to scrub the oil pan once in a while and I'm deathly afraid of doing that one too many times.

Very easy - Jack up the car to take the weight off the front suspension and turn the adjusters under the LCA the same number of turns clockwise. Lower the car and check to see if ride height is the same on both sides. Just to be clear cranking them up a bit raises the car - it doesn't stiffen the suspension.
 
If there's any dirt or rust on the threads of the adjusters, you need to clean off as much as you can and lube them. Penetrating oil is a good idea with a double dose or so and letting it soak in over night.

i bought a set of 920 a body bars from pst with the fabo discount and they were 400 bucks , i was like ok and they showed up in a mopar performance box with mopar part number . the same ones sell for 325 at summit . i was a little ticked

i will have a set from a 67 satty with a 440 for sale soon , 175 shipped . it was originally a 383 car and now has an iron head 68 440 hp . bars work great just going to a 540 hemi and tube k member

I agree with SlintRR. Go with the bigger bars. I've a '67 GTX and upgraded to 1.03s. I'm not a canyon carver, but the bigger bars took a little of the wallow out of the car when going through curves aggressively. Shop around for deals. I got mine from PST for, I think, a $150 a few years ago. Bigger bars are an easy suspension upgrade.
 
you might even be able to go to the dealer and purchase the bars. I have a 69 RR and bought them directly from the Dodge dealer. cant remember the price but thought they were pretty reasonable.
