'69.5 A12 Superbee

Hello All!
Well I flipped my '70 Roadrunner and just found a '69 Superbee A12 that I had to buy. I know the common 440 motor problems but know nothing about a "six pack" What are the kind of problems I can expect and how do I keep those carbs tuned? Also do these Superbees have any other common issues?

I just put a new six pack set up on my 69 RR, and have had no problems with it. The one minor issue is the slight bog when the secondaries open. There have been several posts recommending changing the sec diaphrgam springs to black ones to replace the lighter yellow ones. This allows the secondaries to open a little slower, which eliminates the hesitation. I plan to race mine this summer at Bandimere, to see how it will ET in the 1/4 mile, so will retain the yellow springs for now. I have heard that the car will E T faster with the stock yellow springs.

There are also metering plates available that accept Holley jets. Get them from from Pro Max, or Quick Fuel. These allow you to re jet your outboard carbs. Pro Max out of Indianapolis also makes a throttle plate for the rear carb that has the idle mixture screws angled outward, which allows you to adjust the idle mixture without removing the carb.

The common problem with the a12 is your car will look meaner, be faster, and sound more wicked when the secondaries kick in. Enjoy the heck out of it and welcome to the forum. That's one sweet bee.

I have had problems with freeze plugs(RB Blocks) BUT that is really nothing...

Moving to California should cure that Sonny :grin:

The only problem I'm aware of with the 440, is that they are awesome, and the envy of all those without one. :headbang:
