Has anyone actually put 275/60-15 tires on 15x8 wheels with 4.5" back spacing and 215/70-15 on 15x6 with 3.5"backspacing on a 66 belvedere II?

I measured and it's tight but should work with enough room for a safety margin. I'm just looking for someone that already had done it to ease my mind a bit. Shipping and tires aren't cheap! Thanks in advance...

I used 7" wheels. They fit great, but I had already made some clearance for 9X30 slicks, earlier.

I used 275/60-15 drag radials on a 7in rim, they wouldn't fit on a 8in , cause a drag radial has a larger section width, a std street tire might be ok, on the front I ran 215/70's on a 7in rim , fit fine. for regular tire out back I used 255/70-15 on a 8 in rim .

I don't know if this will help b/c my car is a '67 b-body. I had 275/60 on 15x8 4.5" spacing rims on the rear, and it sucked. Had to let the air out of the tires to get them on & off; had to jack the car up really high to let the suspension sag, and still had to fight getting the tires on. Going hard into corners caused the wheel lip to cut into the sidewall. Got rid of them & went with 235s, much better. Later I learned that '66s & '67s b-bodies were notorious for having small (tight) wheel wells out back. My two cents.

To get the tires on my 66 coronet easily, I usually take the two lower shock nuts off and just let them hang. Gives you another couple inches to get the tires on and off. Lower it down, put the shocks on their lower perches and tighten the nuts back up

275/60-15 MT Sportsman S/T Radial on Summit wheels 4.5" BS fit good but need to trim quarter molding/lip back to about half it original size. Also may need to push in bulge at top outer well either with a Porta-Power unit and a 2X4 (like I did) or a large mallet and bang it out (doesn't need much)
