Found this and thought I'd post it up. If you see anything wrong, let me know and I'll edit it. Stolen from http://ccc.informe.com/forum/engine...n-f15/different-driveshaft-lengths-t4527.html

This is a chart of common 1966 and later RWD Mopar slip yokedriveshafts. It is sorted by length to help with interchange.

First thing I see is the same drive shaft length with two different wheel base cars.

2883667 1970-71 3.25 44.60 727/833 9-3/4 426 440 Challenger Coronet
2883775 1970-71 3.25 42.60 727,833 9-3/4 426 440 Barracuda Coronet

looks like the Challenger driveshaft is 2 inches longer?????

'm confused. for example the shows the same length for the belvedere and the coronet, is not the w b longer on the dodge??????

I'm confused on your question barbee6043,
Forgive me but I'm sure the Coronet (dodge) and Satellite (Plymouth) are the same platform.

What do you mean by: "is not the w b longer on the dodge?"

Wheel Base?

I'm sure they are the same, same platform

1967 Dodge Coronet wheel base: Coronet: wheelbase 117 in Overall: 203 in

1967 Plymouth satellite wheel base: satellite: wheelbase 116 in overall: 200.5 in

IIRC, the WB on the two E body cars is 110 and 108 with the Challenger being 110. The Coronet shouldn't even be listed with them....

Sorry man,
Don't want to piss you off
I learn something new here every day!

Thanks 6T4polara, again I thought they were the same!
:eek:ops:

I just didn't know what WB meant

As the Metrics I posted shows, the wheel base is different supporting his point.
I'm not drinking anything yet, I'm still at work
Just launched 3 F-22s for a TEST Mission
Perhaps tonight I'll have a beer!

These measurements aren't all right. Just pulled a Dana 60 I had in my 66 Satellite and put the 8.75 back in. I had 2 drive shafts one from a 66 Charger with 8.75 rear and one from my Satellite and didn't know which was which. So the Satellite with the shorter wheelbase shorter driveshaft right, wrong.

Depends on the original application, length would be different between Dana and 8 3/4 and all drive shaft lengths are calculated for original application, not for switching drive train components from one vehicle to another.

Just where do you measure a drive shaft it self? The actual over all length or as I heard from the center of the bearing cups.

Putting together a 68 roadrunner with 383 4spd 83/4 rear don't have engine in yet ,I still need a driveshaft not sure of length I'll wait till I get engine in interesting info didn't see roadrunner or Satellite thanks Gregg

RR and SAT are Belvedere.

2852326 1968 3.00 50.96 833 9-3/4 426 440 Coronet Charger would this also be 69? 69 type not listed.

I have a driveline that's tapered about 12" on one end. Both U-joints are the same size. Does it matter which end the slip yoke attaches to? Thanks for any help.

Trying to identify a belvedere driveshaft part#2852140 if anyone has a parts book help!!!

P/N looks like a 68. You could download a 68 parts book @mymopar.com. Parts books are hard to use a computer, MO. It's flipping pages and if your not familiar with parts book its harder.

No listing for a 70 Belvedere 4-speed Dana. ??? 68-69, then 71
