That's gotta be the nicest Yellow VW in SoCal.

Great pics Dennis. What a great trip, I have to go next year. Did you take 95 through Nevada?

. Yes, to 66. At 58 west, there was a ten mile back up at the light at 395 where is squeezes down to one lane. No good way to leave Vegas on a Sunday.

Dennis,Sorry that Vegas traffic sucks so bad. "Cone Zone" on every road, street or highway. From what the local news traffic guys say,Get used to ORANGE. It is needed, too many people too fast, they can't catch up.

LV to the Bay Area is a circuitous route no doubt. I was looking at it from a different perspective - coming from the Sac area I've gone 80 to 95 S in LV. Either way it's a long trip - very cool that your car racks up the miles with minimal complaints.

2,786 miles total trip miles. Flawless Mopar performance. Not a single adjustment on the road. Flogged it. 104 top and often cruised 85+ for many miles. Added 1 quart of motor oil. Pretty sure it is shook down for LA next month. image.jpg Coming down the Tehachapi.
image.jpg Cool new 6.4 Charger 26 miles from home.
image.jpgAlmost made it home dry. Check how good the blade sweeps.
Just a plug for Valentine 1 Radar. He has NEVER let me down. Very attentive. Drivers out here run fast. Without some protection, you could be overtaking a string of trucks or caught with some hot shoes. I won't leave my driveway without Valentine 1.

Really? Almost 2800 miles? How the heck did you rack up so many miles? Isn't it just 650-700 from San Jose to Vegas?

via Laughlin, Sedona, Kingman, Flagstaff, Route 66 etc.

Okay. I guess Mapquest screwed up the directions to Las Vegas, maybe they sent you to Las Vegas, New Mexico ??:toothy9:

Man Dennis, you sure always manage to get that car to some cool looking places. Thanks for the pics! I hope I can get my car to start running as reliably as yours.

If any one of you could ever have a chance to do a RT66 run ,,DO IT. There are all kinds of sights and some very cool places to stop in each state.

Having trouble getting this grille grease off. Is oven cleaner too strong?

Found this note on the windshield in a parking garage in Sedona, Arizona. Covered deck, corner spot. This is the kind of weird **** that can happen q the road. Take the time to cover your car when parked for both security and paint protection.

I hate to say it but if the grease was hot, the paint may need to be at least sanded and buffed to restore an even sheen. I hope for your sake it does not require a repaint but I'd guess your classic car insurance may come into play here.

Clay Bar did not work. Just ruined the clay bar. GooGone, elbow grease and 1/2 of Saturday got some off. This is wicked stuff. Not sure yet of collateral damage. Hot grease - looks like the whole grille catch emptied onto the trunk lid. Ran into the taillights and other hard to get places. Man!

Have you tried a rag soaked in gasoline? Obviously regular household detergents are not working.
Or if you can get a hold of some MEK product (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) - that stuff removes greases and tar/bitumen. Still a lot of rubbing, but it might be worth trying.

Hi Dennis, any update on the grease removal?

Used everything in the house. Took 2 days but got most of it off. Still finding spots. GooGone seemed to work well. Some collateral swirl marks to deal with. Thanks for asking. Did not have any gasoline on hand or would have used it. Shoved a towel in the tank but could not get it soaked.

Man I am at a loss as to HOW a bucket load of grease got on your car?!? What am I missing here?

By the way, I live in Vegas an saw your car - nice, and cool that you drive it!
