Hello

In the attached picture you will see the front of my 71 charger sits high. Front the top of the tire to the inner of the wheel well is almost 12 inches. I know the torsion bars can lower the car but i believe you only gain 1 to 2 inches and it throws the entire alignment out of wack. I called summit and they said new shocks wont do anything and that the entire front ride height is dependent upon the torsion bars. Can anyone advise me of the proper way to lower the front of the car? 20160319_201333.jpg

Changing front ride height is accomplished purely by adjusting the torsion bars. Any appreciable adjustment will throw the alignment out and it will need a re-alignment.

crank the torsion bars Down you'll get way more then 2" and yes you'll have to realign the front end No Big Deal and yes the bars are the Only way ! Good Luck !!

holy schnikes! it does look like the motor is out of it.

did you replace any of the front end parts?

i know this my sound goofy, but did you use the service manual and install to spec? or even goofier, did ya get the right parts?

im not trying to be a dick or anything, but something definitely is a miss

I understand. Actually since I've had the car it's always sat this high. I just have been working on other parts of car and front end height wasn't a priority. I changed thoose front end parts only because they were orginal to the car.

That baby does sit quite high in the front. Too high for me as well. I've raised and lowered my front end via the torsion bars. Didn't know there was any other way for the front to be changed. For the back there are a number of things you can do to manipulate the height.

Lower the torsion bars and spring for an alignment and you'll be good to go. Nice car by the way.

I think you're looking at the wrong end of the car. It looks like you're sitting about 3" low in the back, so I would guess your leaf springs are shot, along with the shocks. If you raise the rear to the right height, the nose will come down.

Get loosen the T-bar will loose also the spring rate, so must be carefull how much you get it lowered.

You can also re index the LCA Hex for the Tbar and beging screw in the adjuster to keep the spring rate on a lowered height
