I'm building a 67 and need to find parts for the fuel system. It came with an old 8 gallon fuel cell (plastic) that needs to be replaced. I need to replace with either OEM fuel tank or ATL bladder fuel cell. The ATL is around 500 bucks and fits in the spare wheel well, plus a sending unit for about 100. The OE tank is 120 dollars...but, I added up all the parts for the filler, sender and straps and all and it came out to 650 dollars. Any way to do the OE tank setup cheaper? I'm used to the 70 b body tank which just has a short filler neck but the 67 has all sorts of extra parts to get the filler to the rear quarter.
 
yep toss in OE stuff

i used tamraz off ebay for my 1966 Coronet Fuel tank needs and straps. I tossed in a different make for fuel sender cause of aftermarket Autometer Fuel gauge (GM stuff 0-90ohm).

I calculated $200 dollars for entire package: tank, sender, straps

How did you hook up the tank to the quarter panel? I found the rubber elbows from jacks mopar parts but I'm missing everything else. Filler neck grommets cap, also need a hole in the trunk pan with adapter fitting. It adds up pretty quick for the OEM setup.

Which brand sender did you use with the aftermarket gauge?
 
If the car isn't near stock....I'd go with a good cell.
 
How much power are you making? How much would you like to make? Now is the time to design your fuel system to perform up to what your plans are.

Great point. Making no power at the moment its still just chassis and a 4 speed waiting to be installed. Sky is the limit but I have kids so I have to do in stages. First step is mild big block. The ATL is very tempting because I will never use the spare well but I got some great advice from folks here that sent me the factory diagrams and the stock tank is very do-able even with minitubs. I saw a perfect 67 bel yesterday that had side dumps in front of the rear tires, thats definitely the way im going so no worries about threading the exhaust around the minitub and stock tank.

The rubber boots can be bought from Napa. Just going to go 3/8 sender. Plus it will be nice in an endurance race to fill the tank at the fender rather than popping the glass trunk everytime.

i had all other stock stuff so didnt have to buy that.

Thanks all tanks inc is great. Got my parts list now. Looks like the most expensive part will be the gtx flip gas cap...nah I'll skip that luxury for now.
 
I picked up a dented stock tank for 50 dollars and a used OE sending unit for 10, starting to get there. The only piece I am missing is the upper filler tube (metal tube from trunk floor to quarter panel). It is not reproduced and can't find it for sale anywhere. I contacted Vans in Wisconsin, they produce everything except this part. Anyone know a source for it?
