Has anyone ever come across one of the Superbirds that were sent back to Detroit and returned to a 1970 Road Runner, I have heard all was changed back except the rear window. Also I have never heard how many were changed back

they were never sent back to detroit and its very few , but some were converted by dealers to sell them off there lots . Its more common to run into cars that were 5 years old and got smashed into and the then owners cheaped out and went to the junk yard and got standard 70 fron clips cheap to put on , nose cones have aways been rare and expensive relatively to era .

How about this question Stu. Do you know of any of those converted by cheepo owners that got discovered and were returned to Superbird status?

I love this sort of Mopar lore. Somewhere out there, hiding in plain sight, are dozens of winged warriors. Waiting. Watching.

I saw one that a dealer took the nose off of and put on a standard road runner nose. The thing was that they left the wing on.

Should be pretty easy to spot by the back window, doubt anyone would yank that plug out.

Let me tell you something, bandejo. You pull any crazy ah!t and flash your piece...

i know of a one owner daytona with a 70 charger nose on it , that will be put back someday LOL and yes my buddy Curt Lawson In Minnesota restore a superbird for a man name Judson ( from Iowa i believe ) that had a satellite nose on it . Cant remember if it still had the wing intact or not when he discovered it .

Put the piece away man, their callin the cops!
Really, it would be interesting to see some documented cars that were converted by the dealer to complete a sale. My bet is more were converted after being damaged

I have a Superbird engine ....

someone converted it to a superbird w/o a body - it's just missing it's nose and tail and everything in between

Sounds like something wonderwoman would drive around in.

I saw one of those one time;
Yup, my bud's Dad's best friend in Springfield, Ohio somewhere around the 4th of July in 1986!

PS: I ALWAYS felt sympathy for poor Donny!
Right before he died, he asked:
"Are those the Nazi's?"

John Goodman says: "No Donny, those are Nileists, they are harmless"

Poor Donny!

Poor Superbird, no nose/tail/ body?
