I have a 1970 road runner and want to buy a enclosed car hauler . I need suggestions on the size , I know the car is about 18 feet long bumper to bumper what do you guys have ???

I borrowed a friend's 24' HaulMark with a service door in the front. I would imagine that you could get by with

an 18 footer, but you wouldn't have much room to work with. The extra room in the front lets you park the car

in the "Sweet Spot" and put 60% of the weight on the tongue. Good luck!

I went 28', when I ordered mine[9th trailer]. Anything longer, and they wanted to put 3 axles under it....which raised the GVW. In the future, I see tighter regulations on trucks and trailers.

My 24' tandem is the bare minimum imo.....and is rated for 9500 GVW. In Texas iirc, anything 10,000 and over requires a commercial license. Got to get the thing inspected every year as it is.

I'm in Illinois and I have heard that they are now requiring people with trailers pulled by Pick-ups to get a cheauffer's liscence.
Not sure where the GVW starts, but My friend has an F450 and an Alfa Toyhouse that weighs 23k wet and he has to get the
Cheaffer's liscence. This state is going broke and they're trying to get money from everywhere!

It sucks when states do that crap. They call it a fee but in reality, it's just another dang tax!

Yup, and there will be plenty more. I've had a chauffeur's and cycle license since I was 18, and keep renewing them for the extra couple bucks. I can drive lots of things, without question... legally. I quit driving commercial trucks, about the same time CDL's started.

You'll get a lot of opinions & good help on this site. But, your best help will come from calling the trailers manufacturers or dealers for specific recommendations for your trailer. They have sold thousands of trailers & usually know the government, weight & size requirements. An incorrect decision could cost you money later.

I just bought a brand spanking new 26'.i love it. My 66 belle fits great and it leaves us room for a work station or sleeping area towards the front if needed

When I had my enclosed trailer 26' I had the service door up front but also had on each side the escape doors as not to be climbing in and out of the cars.

Just my .02

want a truck to pull a trailer, NEVER ask the car salesman UNLESS he has been pulling all his life ( and he is not 22)....

yes, ask the trailer manu, again, not necessarily the dealership!!! Ha

you want a bumper pull trailer balanced with 60% weight on hitch, like the other guy said, you want to be able to get in and out of your car, DUH!??
greasable bearings, big enough axles (rubber rides?), , brakes on both axles, remember if in a good enough wreck, the car WILL come loose in that trailer....!!!!!!
