Just looking for some advice. I`ve found a fairly decent 69 Road Runner for sale in my area. Needs a complete restoration. But it will be #3 in my stable of Road Runners. Unfortunatley the guy had someone do some amateur body work and the fender tag came up missing when the car was returned.
So is this car really worth anything without the fendertag or is there a source that will recreate a fendertag for a restoration. Just trying to figure out if this car is worth grabbing for $5000 or let it go...never came acros this problem before. THx

Yes.
And yes to the second question, if it has a build sheet.
You will have 3?
Two is a coincidence. Three is a pattern.
I think you have an addiction or are a hoarder of Road Runners. (Pulling your chain)
People will help value the car if you give more details and/or pictures.
The best question is: Is it worth 5K to you?
You know there is a sister site for Road Runners?

Yes, this will make number 3. And I do like 69 RR`s.
Basically, I`m ready for another. And this one came along. Its all there minus the numbers matching motor. Needs completely everything, price is
reasonable. But the fender tag issue bothers me, and no broadcast sheet.

Contact the guy who was making the 4-door Cuda. Waldo has the ability to make you a broadcast sheet and a new fender tag. Hell, if you need a new VIN or new body numbers stamped, he's the man.

But the fender tag issue bothers me, and no broadcast sheet.

Then move on.

  • Reproduction fender tags are controversial.
  • Sometimes no tag is better than a bad tag.
  • Bad tags raise red flags on cars.
  • Some tags cannot be accurately reproduced whether you have a broadcast sheet or not. (see #2 and #3)
  • Check this forum to see how many people spent good money for bad tags.
  • If you are willing to accept poor quality reproduction parts, please proceed.

If you like the car and can restore it to a nice muscle classic then do it. Does the fender tag and broadcast sheet matter to everyone....no. Yes it helps and certainly gives the car more credibility. But if you detail all your work with receipts and pics there are plenty of buyers when the market is good. And Mopars tend to get more money. Roadrunners will always be hot. If its a good restoration you have no worries just enjoy it. Don't over think it.....it's 5K.

I agree with the post above. If you like the car and want to bring it to its former glory do it. A fender tag missing isn't the end of the world.

Around here (Florida) 5k is a good deal for a RR so long as the body isn't a rusted out hull.

Unless you're buying it because it has some special option package I wouldn't pass on it just because of the missing tag.. The body stampings tell you it's a RR.

Talked to the owner again today. Good news, he has the broadcast sheet for the car. Fully intact and in very good condition. The situation is looking better. Thx for the replies.

Around anywhere 5k is a good price for a 69 2 door plymouth b body regardless.

My car has no fender tag or broadcast sheet, but all the body numbers match the VIN and the full VIN is stamped on the motor,3.23 tag is on the rear, car came with factory a/c,the only thing I added was the factory in dash tach.I would like to have the tag but if you cant look with your eyes to see what the car has what do you need a fender tag for.

Your dilemma resides in how people will perceive your car when restored. If you're looking to restore the car back to stock heavily document any original, factory parts to the car. W/O seeing imagery of your car we have no clue as to what this project looks like, and how original it appears to be. If it's a special paint car it is crucial to document areas where the original paint resides.

With these cars a lot of the time options were packaged together, and would need to be indicated as such on a repopped fender tag. Again, document what your seeing visually and determine if those options would have triggered a packaging option.

If the car is heavily modified and shows no signs of original paint your now dealing with a car that most likely will be best suited as a street machine.

i think you should pass and find something you like better
as the issue bothers you enough to ask on here
i think you will never be happy with it even with a fake tag added on.

I agree with this. If you are buying it just to have fun, go for it. Keep in mind, selling it down the road will raise many questions.
