70 Coronet - Rebuild

Thanks Habib.

I decided to take a break from Coronet restoration in an effort to get the Wagon in "driver" running condition for the summer. Thinking I would like to at least enjoy driving something in the short term.

Had my brother help me remove the entire front suspension in order to rebuild it. Bot everything tore down and blasted for paint. Purchased bushing kit and new power front disc conversion kit. Almost ready to start assembling everything for reinstall.

Here's a few pics.

Nice Coronet, and really nice work on it!
That wagon will make a nice cruiser until the 2 door is ready....

Super Jealous of that 1970 Wagon, check out my photo garage on my 1970 Belvedere Wagon and Members Resto's for my 1969 Satellite Wagon!

Thanks 66dart. I checked out your posts and like your rides too. Yours in better condition than mine and hope to get around to restoring mine once my Coronet is done.

Eric383, thanks to you as well.

Got a chance to give the wagon a much needed pressure wash this past weekend. Car must have been in a flood at some point cause a ton of dirt/mud came out of it.

While I was waiting on a few items to put front suspension back together, I decided to pull out the interior and clean/inspect floor boards. Other than a dent, floor boards look nice.

Also removed fuel tank. From the dents that were in it, either the original owner liked mowing down pedestrians or mimicking jumps from old Dukes episodes.

I ordered new ralley wheels and bilstein shocks for her. Need to get some new rubber purchased too as I'm getting anxious to get wheels back on the car.

Yep, already got a new one with sending unit picked out. Did some research on here to make sure. Thanks for confirming it for me. Just haven't ordered it yet as I'm trying to spread out the spending for a few weeks as these cars become money pits....

Yeah I don't want to tell you how much is in the 69 wagon, but is has a lot of nice stuff :)

Finally got the chance to finish putting front suspension back together and get it in the car. Everything cleaned and painted/sealed with new bushings. Also converted to front disc brakes. Things coming along nicely.

Hopefully I can get the calipers mounted this week. Just waiting on power steering gear box to be finished to bolt that back on. Also went with the Bilstein shocks I've seen good reviews on by other members.

Received my new wheels a while back and I'm excited to see how they look on the car. Hope to have tires later this week so I can get them mounted and on the car.

Love that wagon ! And especially what you are doing With her :D

So I ordered two new pitman arm bushings, one for wagon and one for coronet, but this is what I received.

I asked vendor which one is correct and they said both should work, they just come from different vendors. Really??!!

Anyway, moved to the rear of the wagon. I got rear end out so it could be replaced by 8 3/4.

Ordered all new seals, bearings and gaskets. Also picked up a used center section at swap meet with 391 gear and posi. Thinking about buying new 355 gear for it.

Also removed tail gate so I could replace glass and clean out all the dirt inside. Picked up new beltline weatherstrips for it as well.

Things are coming along little by little.

Got pretty much everything for the rear end cleaned, painted and ready to go back together. Should have it ready for install in a few weeks. Just need to get leaf springs cleaned up.
