Hi everyone just finishing the new engine for the 67 GTX 440 the shop manual says it is a 180 and when I look it up all the parts stores say 195 I do not have a parts catalogue to know what is the correct one thanks

It really doesn't matter much as long as it's within that range, cooler than 180 isn't warm enough though. I'm running a 180 but have had motors that liked to run at 200, just keep it below boiling and above 180.

180. Stant Super-Stat.

Heck, I don't even remember a 195 stat being available back then, at least not on the shelf! Of course I could be suffering from more pre-senility!

I think 180 stats were the norm on most cars back then, the 195's came later as part of the emission control packages.

Back in my day; (I sound like grandpa used to); we used to change to 160 stats for summer and back to 180 for the winter! "That's the way it was & we liked it!"
