Getting closer to decision time and I'd like to hear what the experts here on the forum think. I have the original numbered 440 from my 1972 Roadrunner GTX and it has all the original brackets, casting numbers, AC compressor ect. I've cleaned it all up and it looks very good and original. I've already decided that I'm not going to use the very good running original engine and I'm going to use another 440 I have and keep the original set aside.

Now here's the question. the "other" engine has some internal work but is still running the original OEM heads and I have a set of Headman Headers. Should I make the "other" engine look original by using the stock valve covers, AC compressor and exhaust manifolds so it looks original or use the aftermarket parts and say the heck with the OEM look. Since I'm running the OEM heads I dont think I'll lose much performance

Headers. More power, less weight, and cooler under-hood temps with ceramic coated.

If just a street cruiser I would go with the manifolds

My opinion, I'd bag the original engine assembly intact the way it is. Put the headers on to go with your intake & valve covers, throw on a cal custom air cleaner, and your car will look like they actually did back in the 70's.

IMHO, bag the original, work up the working motor to as stock as possible...I personally hate all that cheap "hop up" junk!!

Headers sound pingy.
Get 63 wedge flyin' exhaust manifolds if you really want that look.

Headers leak and sometimes warp.

I'm keeping the originals even if I do initially go with headers.

I'd go with headers and keep the manifolds on the origal engine. should get 15-25 hp outnof the headers

I'm with poly - I'd go with headers for the performance aspects and keep the original manifolds with the original motor in the event you want to bring everything back to stock and matching one day.
