This is the only existing picture of my first every car! It's a 1976 Volare complete with a 225 Slant 6 and wood panel siding! I bought it in 1985 for $400, drove it for about 3-4 years before it got totaled by a brick wall! Before anyone asks, the red circles were to indicate where the body damage was after I hit the wall.

Yep, I can't kill BamBam.

Over on the FMJ Only site A few guys wrote about their F wagons. I had a 1980 Volare' wagon slant that I bought at Chrysler's at Carlisle and drove it back to Nevada. It was a great car, sold it to the neighbor's girlfriend.Long gone now,,so is the girl.

I use to service the Dodge Assburns, I mean Aspens at a dealership, back in the day. Drilling holes in the fenders for antennas and in the station wagon roofs for luggage racks was fun!

And a belated

Purchased a new one back in 1978. Same color and side panels. At that time some models came with a 400 V-8. Held a lot of water in the rear quarters. Over time rust developed in the rear quarters. Sold it in 1986 for $300. The 318 was still running strong. But I need a dodge caravan with a V-6 for my growing family. Very few still on the road. Good luck

Some of you seem mistaken, this is not a car that I currently own this was my car I bought when I was in my junior year in high school in 1985! I've had too many cars to count since then. Currently I'm driving a 1979 300 and a 2014 Mazda3 as a daily driver and commuter car.

Hey Northeast, Question for you,,Is the shifter button on your 300 wood grain ?

Nothing other than I read one of your other posts about the center console being used in all the later year cars. Then it hit me the 300 has no other wood grain in the interior other than the shifter button.Thought that maybe mine came out of another car or was a dealer replacement.I guess in 79 they just used what they had....

I thought the same thing and my research has come up with a lot of variations of information. Basically in '79 as we all know Chrysler was hurting and willing to do anything to boost sales. So they took the Cordoba, went into the left over 1978 parts bin and pulled out the LRE engines and police package suspensions, painted them all white and slapped the "300" badge on it! My parents had a 78 Horizon that had the exact same shifter complete with wood grain button LOL! So yteah, they used what ever they had laying around to save money of fabrication.

True to that, Fit and finish wasn't a strong point at the time either.

No it wasn't, the "Milled Finish" plate on my center console looks terrible but it's the way it came from the factory for that's how I am going to leave it!
