Hemi oil consumption

Do all the Gen III hemi's use a lot of oil or do I just have one with issues? I have an 08 300C with the 5.7. It seems to use what I think is a lot of oil. It has always been this way since new. The dealer told me they all do this. But I think it is BS. Mine uses a quart for every 12 to 1500 miles. If I don't change it every 3000 miles it seems to use even more. It now has 111000 miles on it but oil consumption hasn't changed. Of all the cars I have ever owned and all the engines I have re-built I have never seen them use oil like this. Just wondering if there all like this or if mine was just poorly built. I am in the process of putting a 5.7 in my 68 charger. But if this is the case I think I might just rebuild the 440 instead.

It's the rings on that engine. Mine didn't use any oil, but I know of others that did and when they rebuilt them, they used really good parts.....problem solved.

My dads 06 charger Daytona 5.7 has 190000 plus miles and doesn't use a quart between oil changes. I think u have an issue with that motor

Ditto. Your engine should not be using oil. My 05 300C has never used any oil. 68 Charger with 6.1 has not used any oil either.

I've had engines in the past that used too much oil. Changed the weight or brand and the problem went away. It's normal for most to use up to a quart between changes. That's when the oil starts to break down. It's a good guage on when to change it.

I have a 03, 5.7 in a Ram 2500, with 160,000 miles.
No oil usage until it's time to change. I use Pennsoil.
I prefer Kendall.

06 Daytona here too. Have never ever added oil between changes. Low miler though, 44k. Do about 7 a year and gets an annual Amsoil 0-20 / Wix change.
