Found the hood hinges for my 68 GTX made by AMD, they came in and looked like my old ones at first glance so I sent them to the powder coater. I put them on over the weekend and the back of the hood is 1/2" too high all the away across with no adjustment left. What a pisser! I spent the better part of a day trying to make these things work, now I am fixing my old ones with a welder after spending $225 for hinges and $226 to powdercoat, now they will be paperweights.

As I write this I'm waiting for the manufacturer of a part to make corrections to a reproduction item.
I bought the reproduction item some time ago. I just now got ready to install it.
Only then I noticed the discrepancy between an original part that I have and the reproduction item.
I documented the error with pictures and contacted the vendor verbally.
I then supplied the vendor with the pictures.
The vendor tech support was more than happy to go to bat on it for me since I provided pictures of an original which clearly showed the problem..
The vendor has been the go between.
Now (hopefully based on conversations and emails) I will get the correct part in exchange and other people will get a better product in the future.
All that to say, I hope you will do something similar with AMD and let them the have a chance to make changes to the hinges.
I wonder if they would not have done that for you and saved you some trouble.
Most manufactures want the business and vendor are our friend, I think.

you could of just sent out your old ones to resto rick and
for 200? i think? they would come back like brand new.
only use repo parts as a last resort

Agree with Flypaper, hood hinges are plentiful. If you don't want to fix yours I probably have a set somewhere around here I could make you a deal on.

Thanks, I never heard of that guy so it is a little late for that. Mopar parts are almost non existent around here and all options a r e super expensive.

I bought them thru Summit Racing and they shipped from AMD. I wish I had not powder coated them so I could return them

Greg, I was hoping to hear from you but am distressed to see this to say the least.

Please rest assured I would be happy to help you out in dealing with AMD if you need me. My support does not end when your bill is paid!! I was just an enthusiast and motorhead before I was ever a business owner, and your satisfaction is more important to me than a pay check. (We even discussed repairing yours if you remember since the AMDs had visible differences.)

You might be able to gain that half inch by elongating the mounting holes on the hinge - just an idea.

Please let me know if I can help.
