Hunted for over an hour for the thread on re-keying door locks.
Any hints on finding it?

Thanks! Around here, gonna need to check who might be trusted in the area. Have heard a few bad. Went to one locksmith Friday, but doors slammed shut, closed.
There was a great post on re-keying those things...one of those 'I'm gonna go back to it, when I'm ready'.

It's pretty easy.

How many cylinder assemblies do you have to work with?

Best to have a few extra.

Get an egg carton.

Take one apart and keep the top and bottom pin sets that come out of each position together.

You can group some together if they are exactly the same.

Start back with one pin position, and find a pair of top and bottom pins that work with that position in the key cut.

Repeat

If you don't have several assemblies to donate pins from, you'll likely only get three or four pins working in a given cylinder.

Really appreciate that, YY1!
If I can't find a locksmith local, I'll dig into them. Only have the two, though going from the original key to the new one, they are real close.
