My personal project. Wife's 66 Charger.

If the trim is 2 pieces, one being pot metal and the other would be stainless, then someone added those 67 pieces to a 66 car....your choice, your car if you want to keep it or not

  • I finally tore down the 400 the rest of the way. While it is a 400 hp thick web block it definitely doesn't have a forged crankshaft. Here is another strange thing. We know its not the original engine in the 66 it was hooked to a internally balanced 383 torque converter. Not good. Second strange thing is that the harmonic balancer is also for a internally balanced engine but is the later model balancer 3614371 used 72-75. Crankshaft casting number is 3462923. Everything in the engine is standard sized as we thought.

Very cool I've wanted a 66 charger for awhile I'll get one ,one day . I do have two 1966 361's in my garage one is a junk yard pull out the other is fully rebuilt and was pulled out of a 66 charger guy wanted more power so a 440 was shoved in . I bought them all to use in my 64 Newport but I punted that build and found a 64 300 K that was already finished for not alot of money. I'm in FL. So not sure if the 361 means that much to you but I'll sell if you wanted

Thanks but we're going to go with the 400. I already have a forged crankshaft coming for it and new Keith Black pistons. I'll have arp rod bolts put in the rods and have everything balanced.

Ah OK that's the way I would of went too. These 361 motors are great running motors but no power at all . Well good luck with your build got anymore pictures?

Nothing much lately. I do need to take some more this weekend and post them. I am glad you reminded me.

Here are a few photos showing the extra thick webbing on this block. Very seriously considering options on how far to stroke this motor.

Looks like a GOOD starting point!
If you have an extra trunk emblem after it is done, shoot me a message please.
Thanks

Sent you a PM, I have a good used one I took off my wifes 66 during the restoration of her car....

Hey Mark,
On an off chance, do you have a diagram for the quarter glass regulator and window slides?
My mopar " bible" is on the missing list and I am trying to reinstall the glass, reg, and window track.
I am having a heck of a time trying to remember how they go together.
Any advice??

Thanks,
Dave

Saw your post and want to commend you for a fine choice for the wife's grocery getter. I LOVE this body style!
I have done a LOT to mine since purchasing it a few months ago. Mostly creature comforts. I.E. carpet, windshield,( both front and rear ) gaskets, functioning gauges, and the like. BTW if you need gauge work, The Gauge Doc is your man!
On an off possibility, do you still have the shell from the old donor car?
I am looking for the windshield washer squirter's and related hardware.
If this is something you still have, and are willing to part with, PM me so we can make some arrangements. Thanks in advance.

Also in the off chance, if you are willing to part ways with the front bumper too that would be Awesome! That is if it is not already spoken for.:thankyou:
