I am looking to buy a 1969 Super Bee clone I found on craigslist. Buying it for 10k. Started life I beleive as a 318 with a 3speed manual floor shift. It now has a 383 and a 4 speed with an 8 3/4 rear. Bench seat, steel six pack hood and looks like it was cloned to a Bee 25+ years ago. It id a complete car. Interior is actually in pretty nice shape other than the carpet. The front and rear seats arent even torn, good doorpanels, headliner decent etc. Solid trunk, solid floors, needs a LR rail extension and typical lower quarters. It runs and drives, I took it for a spin. Has a few issues but goes down the road decent. I have already put down a deposit and I love the car but I just wanted to ask your guys opinion on the price? I know its a clone but to try and find a running driving 383 4 speed real Superbee, I figure will cost almost double that. I'm not looking to make a profit or anything, just want to make sure I'm getting a fair deal. Here's some pics.

I say you had a fair purchase. the point is IF you are happy, that is what is important. you are right, a so called real Bee can get into your pocket. lets face it, these cars rolled down the assembly line, throw the right parts on a base coronet, and whammo, its a BEE! these are cars, made to drive and enjoy. go for it!

I say go for it. A real 4 speed bee is more than triple that price. Plus you can do upgrades and not be worried about changing a real bee. I'm doing a clone now that I will be comfortable jumping in and driving and enjoying. Good luck.

Looks like a cool clone to me at a fraction of the cost of a real bee. The money you save now can be used to modify it any way you see fit, get it dialed in and safe then drive the wheels off of it!

I payed $9600 for my 68 Barracuda notch-back. ...I was happy with the price.

I would gladly pay $10K for that Bee clone.....
Some new carpet and a bit of cleaning and drive that bad boy!

IMO, you got a good/fair price!

Congratulations!

If you were looking for a fun car to drive while you finish it up to your specs, you dun gud.

Congrats on the purchase.

great looking buy congrats and enjoy

Deal. Snap it up. Sweet.

Well, I feel alot better about my purchase now! Haha I appreciate the input and all of the kind words :icon_cool:

makes me feel very good paying that for my real bee

my 2 cents. those of use that have been n this hiobby for decades, might look at clones differently than newer hounds in this race. when they firs started doing clones, years back, I asked "why". I could still find plenty of real car projetcs, talking 383 68-70 runners, bees, ( heck even hemi cars, no not cheap, but), for plenty cheap, but restuired they didn't bring any $25-30,000 either!
I like the guys deal for this car. IF he is into having fun with a driver, heck yes! NOW, if he is into owning an "original" bee than came out of the factory as such, then a clone is not the answer. I have to wonder how much "ego" can direct our desires!
lets face facts, back in '69 coming down the assembly line, two 60 coronet hardtops lets say. both get 3838 4 bbl, either could have come with 4 speeds even. both get 10 in drum brakes, 8 3/4, same front suspension, same interior, same color. what is the difference? some emblems and graphics? o k so maybe the Bee got a front sway bar? is this not correct I ask..
anyway, I say good purchase and gauge it so by the owners smiles per miles!!!! ha

I made this purchase a few months back and couldn't be happier with it. That 383 loves to sing the sweetest songs. Is it a high dollar numbers matching Superbee? No. Would I like if it were a real Superbee? Well sure but that doesn't make this car any less fun. There was a time when that's what these cars were about. Having fun. Not ridiculously over restored cars shoved in a bubble and locked in a garage. This one is well used and I'm loving every minute of it. 10k for a big block, four speed and a posi. Oh and did I mention it looks mean as hell? Here's a video of what this car does on a regular basis.

Nice video and great car. I think you got a great deal, money well spent.
