its a 77 Fury. Has a 400 BB MOPAR/727/ 9.25 rear. The guy I bought it from doesn't know much about it. He said he got it from a guy in Tenn. who was a big MOPAR guy & raced it at a NHRA track & did well with it. It's got a lot of things that won't pass tech at my track. So I got to fix all that first. Has the pass header rubbing on the trans & is leaking. Gotta fix that. Move the seat back so I can get it it. Anyway the motor sounds strong & feels strong. He told me it was a stock stroke & never bored. Said the heads had been milled .50. Told me it ran best with a mix of pump 93/race 105 octane. It has a MSD6AL with a 6200 chip. Yet he told me it ran best when shifted at 5000. Seller told me it had a Lunati Bracket Master cam with .430 lift. Not much cam. Later on the seller mentioned new Pistons where installed, but didn't know what kind. Seller said the stock converter was sent off to be matched with the cam. Car has an 8 pt cage & nice looking Lexan side windows. Drag lites & 28 X 10 slicks. The 9.25 rear is suppose to have a sure grip & 4:10 gears. Sooo I'm at this point guessing the car weighs 3500 to 3600 pounds. I could sure tell it was in my trailer. And I'm guessing a minimum of 350 horse power likely more. I'm too tall to fit in the car with the seat like it currently is so the seller drove the car out on the road in front of his house. He did a mild burnout & then brought the RPM'S up & took off. The car stalled a bit like it bogged then took off. I was about 600 feet up the road & he went by me & was running good & was going pretty fast & still building power as he drove another 1000 feet. So I was satisfied it seemed to run ok enough. Do any of you guys know this car. I got a whopping deal on it. I sold my bracket car & just want something cheap to play with on TNT days & maybe a race or two if I can get it running good. I am estimating 8.30 eighth mile maybe 8 0's if it has more power than I think. I know it's different, but that's kinda what I like about it.

Different is good, and the only person you have to please with your car....is you. Good for you.

You don't see that as a drag car too often.

Is it a factory 400 car?

I like it.

I'm not sure. It has factory looking mounts at the engine. I need to see if it has the vin n the block & check the fender tag. My hunch is that it is a factory BB car. It may be the original engine.

Different choice to make a racecar out of...

good luck with it
& have fun that's what's important

Its a cool car. Have fun with it and good luck. Ron

It's got a real bad header rub on the pass side. Collector is against the trans. So I took that header off & while under the car I noticed the trans mount had a lot of sag. Got to thinking that likey is why it's rubbing. Stoped by my local Advance Auto chain store & got a new Chinese mount (I know) & took the old mount off easily. The long through bolt will not go through the new mount. So I need to ream the new mount out. Was hoping I could get the mount & header back on today. Eager to get this car to a TnT & get some runs & data on it

I installed a drive shaft dafter loop today. I put it 14 inches behind the U joint. That's as close as I could get it. The floor is raise on pass side & the tunnel is shallow as it get closer to the trans. So hopefully this will work

You need ro check nhra rules on location of the loop.
I believe it is not supposed to be more than 6" back from the yoke.

Yep 6 inches is right. No room. My last car was 12 back. The tech guy didn't like it, but passed it. I may bolt a loop extension to it

Is it just me? Or is that yoke sticking out of the trans a long way.

Yes I noticed that too. It's all tight though. Judging by the surface rust it looks like it's been in there a while. I'll check to see if there are any wrench marks on the rear u joint bolts

It looks like the shaft is to short. Honestly I would modify the loop to fit up closer to the joint. That far back sends big chunks of the shaft threw the floor!! I've learned that personally
