Hey guys, names Jess. I'm 19 and from Venice Beach, CA new to the old Mopar life. I've always been fascinated with old cars and love getting my hands dirty. I purchased my first car, a 71 Satellite w/ a 318 small in November 2015. It is my daily but it needs some TLC. I come here in hopes of helpful suggestions and hopefully meeting some new wrenching buddies too. I have no one in my family that knows how to work on cars or supports the fact I want to and my baby has major issues. Suspension is awful, manual drum breaks need to be replaced, engine leak, tranny leak, gas tank leak, alignment is off, ball joint broke, belts are almost gone, needs a new flywheel, headers are screwed, gas pedal sticks, linkage is off, burnt out valve cover, etc. First thing I did was slap some new tires on, replaced my ball joint, and rebuilt the carb. I have a 4 barrel Edelbrock carb that was flooding and I was able to rebuild that myself but I would like to fix everything else myself as well I just don't know much abouy mechanics and would absolutely love to learn. I'll be on here regularly with questions and updates so you can all see my Plymouth come together. That being said I'm super excited to meet everyone that shares my passion because I'm in this alone. #MoparOrNoCar!

Welcome to FBBO. This site is full of great people willing to help out. I hope you have a shop manual, it will help. If there is a tech college in your area you may want to think about taking some automotive courses. Good luck.

Welcome to the site.. Nice car, I gave my girlfriend a 71 Satellite 2 door for her first car when she was 17.
If you can make up to Pasadena, PCC has a great Automotive Program, yes above mentioned Satellite did spend some time in that shop.

Good for you!! That car has "unmarked cop-car" written all over it. Take it one step at a time, according to useable priorities.

welcome to FBBO cool Plymouth keep us posted on your progress

Nice and welcome to the site. I dig the look actually.. kinda blue brother mobile vibe to it.

welcome to the b-body forums Jess. fix the problems little by little one at a time or you'll go broke in a hurry! love that pic of you fixing the carb on the side of the road:thumbsup:

It's so cool to see a young enthusiastic recruit to the hobby!! Young Huns like you are its future.
You have everything you need already: desire, a great car, the willingness to learn, and a huge wealth of helpers right here next to you.
Keep us posted!!

Very cool...every repair you want to do...youtube the hell out of it, there is a ton of info out there and always a trick or two you can learn...good luck. ill keep looking!

Cool car to get your feet wet with! Experience is the best teacher and breaking things during the process of fixing things is how we learn. Good luck with your project - really dig that 4 door!

Welcome to FBBO from hot & dry NorCal

It's good to see a young woman get her hands dirty,
get involved in the car hobby, very rare today...
I commend your efforts, stick with it don't get discouraged...

I like to say;
"fill your library, before you fill your garage"
there are so many great books out there that will help...
I'd highly suggest;
The Factory Service Manual for 1971 Plymouth
would be my 1st purchase of choice, lots of great information...

there area a couple of sites that have some great information
www.AllPar.com
www.MyMopar.com
both are good for general information also

Your on the right forum,
lots of mostly friendly & knowledgeable members here...

When you ask a question make sure you give as much
pertinent/applicable info as possible, more info the better,
much easy than a bunch of back & forth to get the basics...

Good luck with the 71 Satty 4dr project
Happy Moparing

I like it.

Plenty of experience and opinions here.

Welcome Jess. Some great people on here and are willing to help with anything you need. Just ask away. Good luck with it
