Hi all,

I've got a non Sure Grip 8.25 rear in my car. No tag on it, so I've jacked one wheel and spun it twice. I got 3.5 turns of the prop shaft.

Did the factory ever supply 3.55's in a non Sure Grip rear??

If I'm not mistaken, the only gears I know that they put in them was 2.45, 2.76, 2.94, 3.23. I'm betting it's 3.23, pull the cover and look for the tooth count on the ring gear, or count the teeth. If it has 3.23 gears, it might have a bad sure grip that needs clutches

I have an 8 1/4 axle with a 3.55 one wheel peel. the axle came from a Dakota pickup.
The 1974 Duster 360 could have been ordered with a 3.55 in its 8 1/4 axle. Sure Grip was optional.

Ten bucks says that the Road Runner 8.25 is a 3.21 ratio. I've never seen a 3.23 in an 8.25 axle, stock anyways.
