I have about 1/2 my floor pan out using cut off disks. I would like to make less mess and cut out areas with the air chisel. I am using a slitting chisel, I think, which looks like a flying Vee guitar. Cut metal for about a foot and stopped. Sharpening it didn't help. The ripping chisel that is in the kit doesn't look like it will ride the floor contour very well. Advice?

I prefer a lot more finesse than an air chisel! A lot more! I prefer using spot weld cutters for "rough" stuff but my tool of choice is a carbide bur with a rotary tool / die grinder when I don't want to damage what is on the other side.

Wow, I must have painted a pretty violent picture of my removal methods. Ha!

I am using spot weld cutters and a seam "busting" tool. This is to cut out the floor between Crossmembers to get the larger pieces of floor out of the way more easily and to allow better access to the welds for popping them.

You Farmington Hills people.

It's all in the angle of the tip and how you're holding the air hammer. If you have the angle wrong, you just pummel it. If its right, it'll drive itself. I've cut many a floor pan out with a cutter bit like you're talking about and then a chisel bit to clean up the lips/flanges at the spot welds. A cutter in a drill works but is time consuming, whereas the chisel cutter in an air hammer is faster imo. Finesse can be achieved with an air hammer too if you can wield it properly.

Ha. Did you look at my convertible for your wife this spring? Power Rd.

Yes indeed we did.
Just drove the GTX by your place a few minutes ago. It was Jim right?

Correct. I have been keeping an eye out for your car. There is healthy sounding orange next gen RR/GTX that goes by often and I always look to see if it is you. Planning to make it to the Wednesday night car show off West Chicago that I believe you told me about.

The guy with the orange 72 RR lives on Alameda, he has electric exhaust cutouts and likes to make some noise once and a while. My car doesn't make allot of noise unless I stand on it.
I should be at St Roberts on Wednesday, would be nice to see you there.
