Shaving razors

Waiting for a consensus. I too am sick of paying high prices for crap blades. How about the one Rick on Pawn Stars advertised?
I bought one for my father-in-law and he loves it...I tried my grand dads when I was a teen and had cuts all over...no thanks!

There's no distinction on their site, if you want refills the only question is quantity. So I would think that both handles use the same blades. They use the same photo and description for each.
Harrys is great I have the Winston works good for me.

I use a schick disposable triple.

Same price for 6 of those as 3 or 4 cartridges and are often 8 or even 12 for the same price.

I was on the gilette sensor double for a loong time but when prices went to $3-4 a head I had to quit.

I've tried all the major electrics and NONE comes close to a blade no matter what they say.

Here's the secret--------dry the blades when you're done.

It's bare steel and we all know thin bare metal HATES moisture.

I kid you not, my cheap (but not too cheap) disposables last a month or more.

1930s Gillette safety razor, single blade double edge.
Blades are cheap and last a long time if you clean them.
Marketing has a way of complicating everything to justify its own existance.

as far as Harry's one handle has a smooth finish,i didn't care for it as it was hard to hold when wet. Id get the other one. I had a Harry's there nice but really no big difference. Id say the bigger factor is in the shaving creme and getting your face wet enough and hot

...actually you should be shaving with cold water as it contracts the skin and exposes more of the whisker, causing the shave to last longer (think 6:00 shadow instead of 5:00). Also helps keep minor nicks from bleeding.

As for shave cream, I can use almost anything including hand soap and shampoo, really doesn't effect anything. In fact it awfully easy to get WAY too much cream out of a can with 80% going down the drain, literally.

My wife bought some disposables that look like the women's razors in the above post.

The plastic surround forces you to shave at the "proper" angle.

Kind of annoying at first, as you can make a pass and not cut anything until you figure the angle, but once you get it, every pass cuts to the skin and not beyond.

Back when I was on the "Sensor", I noticed the women's version cartridges were identical except for color but 20% cheaper.

I use regular old bar soap for shaving. Don't see a difference one way or the other. Shave daily.

To answer the OP... I use dollar shave club. I got the 2nd most expensive one they have (has a white handle if that helps).. which I think was an initial investment of $15 and is something like $8 a month for a new blade per week. I shave every day for work and I probably only need a new blade every two weeks or even less. It shaves fine, about as well as my old Mach III. The only thing that is slightly not as good is the hinge/swivel for the blade. It sometimes sticks whereas I don't remember the Gilette sticking. But that's it. Cost effective and does it's job.

Agreed! Clean and dry the blades and keep them in a dry place and they last a long time. I buy 1 pack of blades and they last a year or more.

I found this out on a business trip years ago, forgot to pack shave cream. Shampoo works very well, as good as shave cream, if not better !

I use the Gillette fusion, they are expensive but they work great. Also I never use any type of shaving cream or soap or wet my face for that matter, just wet the blades with cold water and go to it. I shave every day and a blade lasts about a week.

I just sent away for Harry's razors & they tell me I should have it within 2 weeks (WTF?!?!?!). Stay tuned for an update after I put the first blade to the test for a few shaves.

Two weeks? Remember when on July 26 I said I'm ordering new blades, well they arrived today.
