I am in the process of installing a vinyl top on my 68 coronet. I purchase a legendary white top from classic industries. My question is how white should it be? To my eye it looks more like the pearl white, than a pure white. The numbers all match for just regular white. I have a picture with a piece of paper to compare with. Maybe this is just the correct white for the year, just what to comfort before I install it tonight. Thanks Jason.

I would say that the vinyl is the correct color as they weren't stark white. Cars with their original vinyl roofs today have most likely been bleached out with exposure to the sun and cleaning chemicals.

When I get some more free time I'll start a build thread. Here's a few more teasers

My phone is having difficulties tonight. Sorry for the double pics and post.

sweet garage! is the interior coded white as well? and what adhesive did you use for the top.

Interior is black headliner, carpet, dash. White seats and door panels. I used 3m super trim adhesive.

How difficult of a job was it? Love the blue and white. I've been toying with the idea of going white too after I saw Darius' ride.
Looks great Jason!

It wasn't the worst thing I've done. Make sure you have some extra hands . The hardest part is getting it down in the drip rails. To be honest if I did it again I would get some prices from a few shops. The adhesive is very expensive. Might not be much more just to have a pro do it.

I like doing/trying things I've never done before but have wondered about the required skills needed to pull it off...don't know how much forgiveness the glue allows once stuck!!! Just might seek out the pro!!!
Thanks

If your good with your hands and not afraid give it a go. Put good even coats of glue on both the top and the roof. Let the glue set up. I let it set up about 15 minutes. It will be dry to the touch. Take your time. Start in the center and work your way out to each seam. I did like 8 to 10 inches at a time. I would like to know how much a pro would charge. The cans of adhesive were 25 a piece with my discount at NAPA.
