Hey everyone! My name is Luis and i am a new guy around here! Back in April i got a 1966 dodge Coronet with a 273 and a 2 bbl. i would like you swap it out with a 4bbl and a new intake manifold to wake it up a little! So... what do you guys think would be the best bang for my buck (i am only 19 and don't have a huge budget)

Sincerely -LuisWB

Welcome, edelbrock makes a smaller 4bbl, 500 cfm carb , I think its number 1404 dbl check that number.
If you hunt ebay or swap meets you can find them for not much cash, rebuild kit for one is around $45.
A dual plane intake or stock cast 4bbl intake should work with it pretty good.

If you want new go with the edelbrock performer manifold, not the rpm and the matching carb, if you want used check ebay or swap meets. Buy a new carb else you will be getting somebody elses problems/junk. I might have a used aluminum edelbrock performer manifold, will look when I get back home.

Luis,
I had a '67 Belvidere 2, with a LA 318 and 2bbl, factory cam, etc. I SWAPPED THIS FOR A '67 HIPO 273 SINGLE plain manifold (reworking mounting hole angles and using the correct bolts) and a Carter 4294S carb and the dual point distributor. Rejet (metering rods) the carb primary 2 steps richer on the power step (same 0.089 jets), lighten the secondary velocity valves (counter weights about 1.5 grams each weight) to allow them to open slightly sooner, recurve the distributor to be all in by 2500 RPM with 15 degrees static (idle) for a total of 36 degrees. Drop spark plug heat range down..I used Champion N-11Y. I used the 1968 340 manual transmission cam (more durtion and lif) and stock lifters and Springs. Combo ran VERY WELL on the street with 3:55 gears, often times dusting off most 327 cameras and even a few 383 road runners. But I wanted to maintain stock appearances. I am sure that there will be few contradictions...but this is what worked for me.
Cheers,

Well it sounds as though you very much got a handle on things there. I do like your 66!
