Hey all,

I was snooping around this new fitech EFI set up. Wow, what a cool product! I was wondering if anyone had one on a big block? Also how was the set up on it?

Thanks

Mikey

Yes I have one on a 440. Pretty easy to set up. I ran a frame mounted (74 d100) fuel pump with a 3/8 hardline and used the old 5/16 line for the return and added a return in the top of the tank with a tube that goes almost to the bottom of the tank to keep the fuel from foaming.
I have another unit to install on my 67 coronet when I get time

How many miles do you have on it? Notice any big improvements or issues? Any pics? What model did you go with?

only a few hundred right now. still sorting out other problems like my mystery water leak and oil drip that i cant find.
i went with the original one. i bought mine when before they became popular and they only made the original 600hp, the turbo version and the 1200hp units. i went with fitech because it had all of the features that i liked from all of the other systems on the market all in one system. there no other boxes to mount somewhere, no big holes to drill in my car for wire harnesses, it controls the ignition timing (i havent hooked that up yet, but will when i get everything sorted out), the annular fuel discharge, i liked the controller better than some of the others (i wish it had a matte finish screen, it has a gloss one and makes it hard to see under some conditions)
improvements... cranks right over and starts, no pumping the gas or excessive cranking on a vehicle that sits to get it to run. no stupid carb issues, like when you pull out into traffic with a cold engine and it pops or hesitates or dies leaving you sitting there.
i am having a problem if the fuel pump losing its prime when the tank is only so full and the truck is sitting at a certain angle. but that is not fault of the efi system, its because of the design of the tank being long and fuel all sloshing to one side or one end away from the pickup. you will not have this problem if you use the fuel canister that they sell or an in tank pump, (i have a frame mounted pump)

Is acceleration off the line faster? I have a slight bog now and was looking for better throttle response.

Also, if you had to do it over again would you do anything different?

accelerates just fine.

well im either going to find a factory pump in tank gas tank from a newer truck, add a baffle or something to the tank i have, or add some sort of accumulator tank inline to what i have now. i added efi to my jeep 10 years ago and dont have this problem but then it has a regular squarish tank, not a long thin one like this truck. hopefully i dont have this problem with my coronet or b van conversions when i do them.
