The Nats at National Trail Raceway Aug.12-14

2 vastly differences of opinion in this thread; however, I am grateful that I live 30 minutes from the track and will be attending all 3 days, every year, regardless of weather. I will do this to help keep attendance up and the passion alive. I get tied of hearing (reading) the argument for moving this show (yes, Trails sucks, always has, always will). Lots of you up north would go more if it was in Norwalk, Lots of you out west would go if it was in Indy, I'm sure lots more would go from the south if it were somewhere like Nashville. But it's not!! This show is considered by many to be the premier gathering of Mopar enthusiasts anywhere, if we bash the **** out it, it will only serve to drive others away and it will die. I for one would like to keep it alive. How many of you would still attend an event this size if they kill it outright and you had to go to MATS in Vegas? Probably none of you! Be grateful and instead of beating this show up, do something productive to help it remain. The best way to make it not suck is to attend, get participation up. More people go, more vendors go, more cars go = bigger show, better show. Just my tied monday morning rant, thanks for listening.

Kind of off topic but did anyone see the derelict black challenger in the pavilion with all the cameras on it? I don't know what the story was on that car. It was sitting next to the nicely restored Dodge 600 race rig with the 43 car on it.
If anyone knows about that car please share your knowledge. Sorry I didn't take a picture of it

Saw the Challenger. No clue what that was about. The '78 Volaré #43 car was better than factory new! I saw Omni GLHS cars that I haven't seen in years, a Gen 3 hemi powered 80's era Daytona, some great drag racing, some absolutely amazing cars! Very glad that I went!

i think the first one i went to was at the indy 500 motor speedway in 1984. starting in 1987 i used to go to all of them with 2002 being my last. lost interest due to the hassle of the drive, finding rooms, and don't care about the cruising. prices on used junk are stupid, and national trails was always a dump.

Here is one of my cars at the Indy Nationals in 1984, just for fun.

White Coronet R/T...beautiful! A friend of mine in the Big Easy Mopar Assn has a convertible clone of that car that is absolutely immaculate, and the same color.

Its actually Y2 yellow, but color is washed out in old photo. Cameras and film back then also weren't what they are today.

But thanks for the compliment all the same!

Here's a photo of the same car from last Friday at the 2016 Nats.
