Hi guys,

since a couple of weeks, there is a Rallye Green 69 A12 Clone on e'bay which is just not Findung a New owner - actually Nobody is bidding on the Car although Priced at approx 25k USD. I was wondering what your opinions on that One are, right its a Clone, its not numbers Matching and its certainly not Perfect but it may well be a Good driver and is Loaded with a Lot of worthy stuff, Last but not least the colour which is quite sought After. Anybody an idea why this One is not selling at all? Is it for the Fact that it is not original? (Original 383s Trade for much higher Prices as you know...)

Many thanks, greetings from Europe

Is this the car? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Plymouth-Ro...1eafb668:g:rOUAAOSwbYZXco3T&item=172313523816

It looks fairly nice to me, with exception of rust bubbles in the bottom quarters. Funny that he took off the six pack set up to go with a smaller 850 CFM carb to make it run better.

Thanks and yes, Exactly thats the One i am on about, Sorry for not posting the link earlier.

Given the 6bbl Set up comes with the Car to make it an a12 clone, would you agree that it may obviously be the Body/paint/rust which is not making the Car Trading in the mid-30s? How much of an effort would it be to get the described bubbles fixed?

Looking at the usual price levels, I think its quite unrealistic that the owner is struggling to find a buyer unless there is something not right.

Thanks for your Responses.

I noticed you location is Austria. Do you have someone that can physically go look at the car for you? I think the whole eBay thing scares people more often than not, particularly for a classic car. So many things can be hidden especially with body & paintwork.

Is the seller responsive to your questions? Can he send better pics if you or someone you might know can't actually look at the car? What about a video of the car running as well? I'd have a video posted if I was selling a car to cover the bases unless I was hiding something or I honestly didn't have a smartphones, which is almost unimaginable these days.

In my opinion I'd say the price isn't terrible for the car overall, maybe a bit high but not out of reach. I know people get touchy over clones/replicas, but honestly who cares as long as you're driving it and having fun. You can tell it gets driven and used. The entire front end is dirty/greasy and there is dirt in the rocker area. It looks like when it was painted the engine was out, so that's a good thing too. There are apparently some good parts on it, it's a good looking car, good paint choice, etc.. If you figure out the dollar amount you'd pay for the Edelbrock heads (about $1700), the Dana Rear ($2k brand new), Wilwood Brakes (About $600) and a new six pack setup and intake ($2500 maybe?) that's about $7 Grand right there just in those large parts. Not to mention the 6bbl hood, the steel wheels, etc.. Again a lot of great parts on the car. If you think about it those terms, is the price worth it to you?

What are other 69 6bbl and Six Pack clones you've seen going for?

I agree 100%. I'd worry mostly about hidden rot, but if you can confirm (or have someone confirm for you), i think with some negotiation you could have a nice car for a decent price there.

I looked at the car about a month ago. Its a decent looking car. It looks straight some small blisters behind the rear wheels looks like original quarters. Center of trunk has a generic home made patch. Looked solid underneath. Iam sure the car had some bondo hiding here and there. The bulkhead connector was cut out and replaced with male female connectors.Mechanically had a lot of newer parts and ran good, probably could be tuned some, he did take me for a blast up to about 115 and it pulled strong. I have a feeling that the Dana rear was not a correct B body rear because he has 275 60 15 on 15x8 with 4 inch backspace and said he had wheel spacers on it because the tires rubbed. And no fender tag either.
