OK so I am off the two tone I think... and recently went to a car show and saw a classic car paint with a matte finish he called it denim black. It looked really nice. Would a matte finish look good or not? There is a lot of Chrome on these cars with a matte finish leave the chrome on still?
I'm not aware of the good and the bad of this paint job? And can anyone do a matte finish? I get my Charger in this weekend or next and I am nervous because I still cant picture what I want and what it will look like! Thoughts from the fans out there?

First, I'd say it's all on what you want. I do like the matte finish look, and I'm as far from a factory OEM guy as you can get (well, almost), but that said, it seems to me that trend is what, maybe 7-8 years old? I think it's bound to go the way of scallops in a few years and end up looking really dated.

Then again, if you went that way I'd personally never voice a criticism of your car. It's just that it's a trend and nothing more - in fact, a somewhat old trend at that.

I think matte looks good with chrome but it is your car do what makes you happy

I agree it's your car, whatever makes you happy. Certain cars look good in matte, but it's another trend. If you go to all the trouble of body work and paint, why not do a traditional paint, it would appeal to more buyers in the future if you had to sell.

Matte is cool, I have a friend with a 68 charger that's matte black, took a name brand high end shop three tries to get it right, from what I understand it's a tough color to spray.

I would think buffing out scratches, etc. would be more difficult with a Matte finish, but I too like that finish. As everyone has said, it is your car, so do what you like. Have you considered looking in to having your car either wrapped or plasti-coated? It would cost some, but if you do not like it, you could easily take it off. Just something to consider.

Dang three times... Thats what scares me and my painter said it would be the first one he would tackle... I like it but I'm scared. I know its what I like but I have had two visions of the car and i'm not sure what to go with. I wish there was a program out there that I could see what it would look like. I tried photoshop ha that was a joke.

I heard its hard to take care of too. But done right it looks so good! The plasti-coating stuff I did look into no one does it around des moines, ia for a price I could see myself paying that is. I do also like that two tone, if you go two tone do you have to do a lighter color and a darker one?

Have you seen many matte finishes with chrome? Pics? I have seen that charger like the one I posted seems to have most the chrome off it. I do like all the chrome 66 charger has to offer its a classy car!

i like the matte finish look on trucks and jeeps. on cars, i think it looks primed and waiting to be painted.

Matte looks very cool to me, it can look cheap but it's usually the persons attention to detail throughout the car that tips the scales one way or the other. I really like the look when there's a call out or stripe painted in gloss.

Well, as has been said, it's your car. Do what makes you happy. That being said, I think of when I was a teenager in the 70s, and all.the guys, poor guys, including me, primed their cars black or gray, sometimes red oxide. Seeing it on cars now, I think it's another way to cover bad work. Like all the rat rods. Ever notice on Counting Cars, they paint the bumper? That's what every cheapskate restorer does to save money. I also don't like blacked out wheels. The cars just look like monotoned blobs to me. But what do I know,I'm older and not into what's cool these days.

There is no repair or buff to matte finish paint, it's a repaint if anything happens. If I were going with a matte finish I would wrapped it. It's about the same money, I'm a fan of the matte finishes
