Been trying to sort out a spastic speedometer. It started acting up on the second day of the Carlisle show as I was driving to the show. I lubed the cable, replaced the cable, replaced the speedometer pinion, still starts swinging wildly as soon as the indicated speed goes over 50mph. Now, I have to find the energy to pull the cluster and switch the speedometer itself. What a PITA.

No! The cable is still binding and letting go! Check cable routing, possible sheath melting, use lighter grade lube.
I only ever got that above 50 chatter when it was below zero.

There left over from another project, wanted to find something to use them on, same as the gaps

Added a MSD digital 6AL ignition module to my existing Mallory Distributor. Fired right up after install!!!!
Now to verify timing....

Before I connected it at the transmission end I spun the cable with my finger tips and it felt nice and free. I'm going to plug the cable into the back of a spare speedo (that I know was working) and go for a ride. If that works, I'll pull the cluster and put the spare speedo in. If that acts spastic, I guess I'll pull the cable (again) and lube it (again). I've been using white lithium grease. Should I use something different?

Put the hemi on the dyno....and ran into major carb issues. Should be running tonight, and tugs tomorrow. I gotta go see/meet Ted tonite.....so I'll miss the pulls[2 hrs from the dyno]. GRRRRRR

Just got home from the meet/greet with Ted. Awesome show. 3-piece band, and totally kicked ***. It was a bunch better than I anticipated, and Ted was really cool. One of the best meet/greets we've had. Oh, the hemi is running....my builder is making tugs tomorrow a.m.

Finished up the front end and disk brake install, put the new wheels and tires on. The bad is, I searched for a set of 69' R R caps, and found a real nice set. Trouble is, they are to big for these steel wheels I bought from Classic Industries. So I moved on to tackle putting in the booster and linkage. That turned out to be harder than I thought. This car was manual drum, going to power disk. You have to drill a hole, one inch higher on the brake pedal lever. So far I have yet to figure out how the pivot comes out. I took a nut off the right end of it, but the pivot won't budge. Any suggestions ?

I got the new tires/wheels installed yesterday as well as the alignment. Today, I installed the Cop hubcaps. I had heard of people saying that they had issues with hubcaps falling off on the new (powder-coated) wheels from Classic Industries, so before installing the hubcaps I took some medium grit sandpaper and lightly sanded behind the bumps that hold the hubcaps on. This seems to have done the job, because I tried the hubcaps on with no sanding and they seemed to want to pop off. After some driving on this setup, I will let you know if I lose any caps! I like the way it looks and I am open to comments either way.

Looks great. I'd use 69/redline caps....but it looks great.

Them're some cactusy looking cacti.
Bet you never seen a livin' "rust" in their natural habitat.

I like the whitewalls.

Have you considered brushed stainless trim rings?
It's a good look.
I would include a photo but my phone force-upgraded itself and it no longer has enough memory to do things like attatch photos.

I have actually thought about the brushed stainless beauty rings. I am going to run it this way for a while and be on the search for a reasonable set to try out. Good call!!!
