Things have changed.

I've been off for a while with other things going on but all I can say is WOW ! I am so sorry to heart his Jimi ! If you need anything please feel free to ask and I will do what I can to try and help out from the other end of the USA. I'll be praying for you my friend.

K.......my question also, what's the cause. My hip repair(2003) is all good Doc said, nothing jarred or rattling. Somehow its related to my bladder damage.....now that i can Thankfully piss freely again, i notice that as my bladder empties, a shooting pain through my right hip comes on. Doc reccomended i consult with Doc Mikulak, the osteo Guy who did my hip job @ HOAG.
i've been taking hot baths lately which do relieve the pressure...i cant spend much time on my feet.
When medi cal kicks in, i'll make an appt with someone Who hopefully comes reccomended by Dr Mikulak.
Also see if i cant get my hernia taken care of.....it just complicates matters.
I was Happy with Loma Linda treatment.....seems to be a well oiled machine with prompt, compassionate care.

Brother - I'm far from being a doctor. But, if you have bladder cancer that has grown and engaged the prostrate - what good is an Ortho going to be?? That's just a waste of time. Forget that and go straight back to the cancer and urologist guys. They'll determine of things have spread to the bones - don't want to scare you bro - but I care and you have to be your own advocate. The system will run you around the rosy until it's too late. Keep going back to the e-room at Loma Linda until they admit you and find the problem. Medi-Cal will come thru because these guys want to get paid. You have to push the system and not let up.

Oh man, I wish you all the best and a full recovery from this. I had a friend at Loma Linda for a liver transplant years ago and they were good then, so they can only have improved since that time! You 're in my thoughts as you get well.

Glad to hear you are getting the care you need Jimi. I hope you will be back on your feet and in the workshop soon! It is amazing how thankful we can be for such a seemingly small thing as being able to pee freely........until you can't do it!!!

Bills are gathering...oy vey. The Hospital bill alone is just under 40 k...y-yikes.....guess im not debt free anymore. This is just the prelude

Now is not the time to worry about finances....all that can be hashed out later. Now just focus on addressing the health issues and get over that hump. Then you can take on whatever is next. My prayers are with you....hoping for all the best Jimi!

Thanks BK! Just ironic that the numbers are freaking me out more than the cancer. Im back on the case of trying to nail down my medi cal case worker in a half hour. Still havent found the cause of my hip & back pain, which sux, cuz i cant spend much time on my feet...not being able to get **** done.

Bart is correct. Money is just money......and you need to keep that positive focus of yours on the target at hand. All the positive energy I have, sent your way.

X2 Brother!

There's state programs to help out with finances if insurance doesn't pick it up. You have plenty of time to sort that out.
Positive Karma is a big part of your recovery. We're all behind you on this one, never think that you're in it alone!

The rubber has met pavement. Got a call from medi-cal today with my approval. Should have my number in 3 days, so i can get these dux in a row. Peace All.

I tried to get admitted again yesterday to Loma Linda. The hip, thigh, pelvic, lower back pain is getting worse. Did a CT scan....nothing mechanically out of sorts, but the inflammation is obvious. So again they prescribe pain meds, calling it a hip strain. I think its a nerve disorder in the weak part of my body(previous injuries)being aggravated by the cancer....this is the pain that started setting in 3 weeks before i went to Hoag in Newport, discovering cancer instead of kidney stones.......& its getting worse instead of better. I got perturbed yesterday at the idea that trying to locate source of pain was not considered good enough protocol to admit me.....so just the symptoms are addressed with more pain med.
Two new pain meds though....i cant stand the narco effect of the vicodon/oxycodon.....constant naseau also, loss of appetite. The new stuff doesnt haze me, or make me nauseaus, though its less effective at masking pain. Its manageable enough i can sleep, which allows me a better tolerance holding up to the discomfort.
My Medi-cal is active now, that got my scripts filled yesterday. Now i can give insurance # to previous & future providers. Hopefully new providers will align themselves with the protocol set forth by my Orange County Urologist/Oncologist & OC Tumor Board, adhering to Their reccomendations. Now that im armed with insurance, i can seek out a specialist to determine whats going wrong on right side of body & maybe get my inguinal hernia fixed too, which has been extremely aggravated by this inflammation.
I did get some Doctor referrals from Loma Linda yesterday, to start putting new team together. Im still losing weight however.....down to 118 lbs......im burning up calories enduring this pain.....the cancer i think is also contributing to weight loss. I'm 5'8".....so yeah, i'm looking a bit thin. Thank God my appetite is coming back. Not being able to work is driving me nutz. That was the week that was.........bc

Jimi,

Be sure you keep you strength and energy up - you gotta eat! Look on the bright side, you don't need to count calories. High calorie stuff is now great!

Also, spend some time on the internet learning about symptoms, your diagnosis, etc. These days, you need to be your own advocate or the doctors will just send you away with pain killers or a quick diagnosis that may be wrong. Doctors are like car mechanics: There are good ones who truly diagnose and fix problems, and there are bad ones who make snap decisions that may often be wrong. Find a good doctor/team that truly diagnose and work off of facts and logic.

You can do this - we're all pulling for you!
