Just wondering where you guys found your tan distributor caps for your big block 440 engines. Classic industries sells them but not sure about the quality. Thanks

This seems to be a common problem these days for the people who want to run original single point distributors with the proper tan cap, like me. I had problems finding one that was as good as the caps they used to make in the 70's and 80's. So I bought one from summit racing, their tan cap from mopar performance with the big vent cap on it. I don't like it. Found one at Bill Rolik enterprises, part No. 2444507 that looks good and made in the USA for $14.00. I ordered it and will post what I think of the cap when it comes in.

No I have not but I could get lucky. Jim's auto parts shows two cap's that look good, one is $24.95 and another for $150.00. Seriously $150.00 for a tan cap without vent.

Worst case scenario is your dealer will need to order it. Might as well pick up the rotor too.

I use Accel cap and rotor on my truck and van. Better quality than the nos mopar one that's on my coronet

Never paid much attention until this thread, then I noticed mine is blue.

Must have been a color coordination thing.

I too bought a few of the Accel tan caps, copper inserts and a rotor came with it. I know that they discontinued the 6 cylinder caps but I believe the V8 is still available. The ones I got did not have a vent and were bought a few years ago.

Thanks for the replies. Where did you buy the accel distributor cap's from? Not sure if they are available anymore.

Summit has them. #8320 $29.55 they have a vent now.

That's what I had thought darter, thank you. I just completed my purchase @ Bill Rolik enterprises for cap part No.2444507. Total bill with shipping was $24.00 and I'll post pics of it perched on my new/rebuilt Chrysler distributor when it arrives for anybody that is interested.

I've got an NOS tan cap, but you are gonna have to figure out what to do with your extra 2 plug wires :)

The Bill Rolik cap is on the right and is made in the USA. It's a very nice cap but maybe I'm too fussy and yes I'm finally installing those exhaust cutout's that I purchased 10 years ago.View attachment 362524
