I have a 70 Bee that I'm almost finished with. It has 440 (non original) with a floor shifted 727. Fresh but mild motor. Prob around the same hp as original. I'm going to go with manifolds but want to put a nice exhaust system in it. Nice sounding, but practical. Any suggestions?
If it matters the cam is an edelbrock performer rpm, flattop pistons (unknown brand), performer intake w a 4150 holley 750 cfm. I may change the carb if I don't like the driveability. And a set of 452 cast number heads. Also interested in any opinions on 452 heads.

Yep, if you want factory original style, see Accurate Exhaust. See TTI if you would like a better flowing system that looks somewhat factory.

I appreciate the input. It's good to see all the options. I've already went over budget, so this is one part I'm going to thoroughly investigate. Trying to balance price, performance, and practicality. I originally wanted headers, but I've read several people's posts about them bottoming out, or just being a pain in the neck. Where I live pavements isn't always smooth so being to low isn't good. Any recommendations for size? 2.5 v 3"

I have 1 3/4" TTI headers with 2.5" TTI exhaust. I live on a county road that just plain SUCKS. That's why my 65 doesn't sit very low. There's a bump about 50 feet south of the driveway, you ought to hear all the new Corvettes, mini Coopers, Smart cars, etc that bottom out going over it. Ha!

What do you have for mufflers?

I looked at the website. Looks like 670$ for the kit. Are they aluminum?

They have an aluminum coating. They still look pretty good after 5000+ miles.

Maybe they have corrected the problem since I had my Accurate system on my charger but they failed to put drain holes in the mufflers and they ended up rusting out internally causing the baffles to break free and rattle around like crazy. Annoyed the heck outta me. I've since put an ECS exhaust onto my cars and couldn't be happier with them.

I will add that although the TTIs went on very easy the x-pipe interfered with the park brake cable, I was told by another member that the h-pipe didn't. At least on the early Bs.

Bekool, a slight modification will eliminate any header dragging....

It says on the website the mufflers have weepholes

Like I said, they might have revised things over the years since I got it.

Gardner currently, previously TTI and Accurate....no problems with any of the three......
